398
Regular Council Meeting
12/18/95
Page Eight
Mr. Flynn said he has to oppose this resolution for a number of reasons: one of the
members is Arnold Pinkney and if he is not mistaken, Mr. Pinkney was in trouble
within the last 5 or 10 years. Mr. Flynn said he does not feel the suburbs should be
contributing to the City of Cleveland, the Browns, etc. A lot of people that do not have
loges, etc. have been blacked out from a lot of games when they have been close to
80,000 people. He has a problem with a resolution giving $1,000 of taxpayers money to
this particular organization.
Mr. Buckholtz said he shared the stage yesterday with the Mayor, Mr. Pinkney and Mr.
Weingart and from that perspective, there were well over 5,000 people there--he would
have to say many of whom were not residents of the City of Cleveland, but the Greater
Cleveland area. Mr. Buckholtz said when you listened to the speeches and you saw the
response from the people--it is really something that is impacting a larger area. We like
to get the support from the people in Cleveland when we need it; he thinks it is a good
reciprocal move.
Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante
and Mr. Fixler
NAYS: Mr. Flynn
Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
First Reading of Resolution No. 95-47, entitled; "A resolution authorizing payment for
the Police Department L.E.T.N.
