Regular Council Meeting <br />9-27-99 <br />Page 4 <br />He has been committed to fair and impartial enforcement of laws and ordinances and has respect <br />for the fundamental human rights of all. He has always encouraged friendly and courteous <br />service and has strived to improve communications with all members of the public. Chief Don <br />Stevens continues to improve the quality and enhancement of public service in the-police <br />profession. He asked Chief Stevens to come forward. <br />Chief Amiott presented Chief Stevens with a Certificate of Life Membership to IACP, his Life <br />Membership Card and his Life Membership lapel pin. <br />Mayor Rinker said Chief Stevens is truly innovative and he exhibits high integrity. He thinks <br />everyone knows him to be a fair minded person. He is an excellent representative of our <br />community. <br />Everyone expressed congratulations to Chief Stevens. <br />Mayor Rinker said we have a number of resolutions to present. A Resolution of Appreciation to <br />the Police and Fire Departments to recognize their involvement in a program that we have put on <br />with Mayfield High School around prom time. It is designed to teach the students the <br />seriousness of what can happen with drinking and driving. We have heard stories that as they go <br />through the enactment, there. are people in the audience who start crying because it is so real. He <br />presented Chief Stevens and Chief Mohr with original resolutions. <br />Mayor Rinker said he has another presentation for Chief Mohr. The week of August 29 through <br />September 4 was dedicated to the Fire Department for filling the boot at 50's Night and <br />otherwise raising over $1,300 for the MDA. He presented Chief Mohr with the Proclamation in <br />appreciation of the Department's efforts. <br />Mayor Rinker said he has a Certificate in Public Service Delivery from Cleveland State <br />University to award to Doug Metzung. This municipality has utilized the service of public <br />service of the school. Mayor Rinker said we are proud to have such capable Department Heads <br />who are truly dedicated to their community. He presented Mr. Metzung with the Certificate. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT MARQUARDT <br />Council President Marquardt said as Council received in their packets this week, he has <br />appointed Dr. Parker, Mrs. Mills and Mr. Ilacqua to form a committee to review our salary <br />ordinance. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Mr. Metzung said the change order for King Excavating on tonight's agenda can be removed <br />from the agenda. <br />
