~~~5~ ~~e.~ra~2S ~
I come here this evening before my fellow residents, this
administration and Council as a concerned citizen. I have no
political agenda or any other motive than a somewhat
mystified state of mind regarding the process that has
surrounded the proposed widening of SOM Center. Council
member, Ilacqua, a resident of Aintree North, approached me
in mid to late November and asked if I, as President of the
Aintree North Homeowner°s Association, would consider
calling for an association meeting to further inform our
residents of the Village's plans to widen SOM. I said I would
give it some thought and make some calls to other homeowners
to receive feedback. However, in the interim, and this is where
the confusion begins for me, I was inundated by material put
out by the Village in reference to the widening of SOM.
-- ~ Numerous pieces of literature and no less than 7 scheduled
meetings had been put before us all in a period of about 10
days. I felt, as a result of all this, it would be unnecessary to
hold yet another meeting.
I do not recall the Village putting forth such an aggressive
campaign regarding any other issue pertaining to this Village.
The residents wee not asked for their input when the golf
course was swapped with land_owned by Progresssive, nor was
our input sought when the church was purchased for 2 million
dollars. We were informed AFTER the fact of these two real
estate transactions. I understand that SOM Center Road is an
` important part of our Village - in fact, it is the spine of our
~-rwu+
