r ;.
27
Mrs. Hanus questioned if the doctors would be taking care of their own private
practice as she did not see what interest Hillcrest Hospital would have.
Mr. Leech said the doctors would each be taking care of their own practice.
Mr..Feneli asked if a limit of.three primary care doctors could be specified,
depending on the def inition given of "primary care".
Mr. Leech explained prima:ry care would include family practice physicians
and internists. He said that matter.would have to be discussed with Mr.
Paris and Mr. Bartunek, he coulcl not give that answer now.
Mr. Busa asked for Mr. Bartuneks comments.
Mr. Bartunek commended Mr. Leech and Mr. Johnstone for their integrity. He
said Mr. Paris would like to have them as tenants but of course there was a
question of whether they would agree on the rent etc. He explained his
presence at tonights meeting was because the minutes of the last meeting
are to be considered. Those minutes indicate their zoning variance application
was turned down. The real issue is whether or not parking in the area will
permit use of 3,100 square feet of the property for pliysicians offices. He
said they are asking for reconsideration of their decision of not allowing
the variance, otherwise there will be an unpleasant and unhappy situation.
He said they comply with our existing laws and are willing to agree not to
ask for anymore zoning variances unless they come to Council. They are
willing to work out a new zoning ordinance in regard to parking for all
complexes in the city that would satisfy Council and be acceptable to the
developers. He said the alternative is to go to Cour,t and have an impartial
stranger decide what should be done for Mayfield Village.
Mr. Busa said the information presented this evening warrants a re-evaluation
of the variance request. He said he would like to refer this project back
to Planning and Zoning, hopefully for discussion at their workshop meeting
this month. He asked for Mr. Schulte's approval of this, as Chairman of
the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Mr. Schulte agreed this could be included on the agenda for their Workshop
Meeting on Thursday, February 24. The next meeting is Monday, March 7.
Council agreed for the matter to be discussed by Planning and Zoning, who
will make their recommendation to Council.
Mr. Busa said Planning and Zoning can made their presentation to Council
for a decision at the Regular Council Meeting in March, unless it is
decided there is a need to call a Special.Council Meeting.
Mr. George Goley - 865 Lander Road - stated he would like to make another
comment after listening to the past comments. He cannot see the reason for
anymore hesitation on this matter. He is happy these gentlemen have the
patience to deal with the situation. The question apparently has never
arisen or has never been asked, not how many doctors will be there, but if
there is suff icient parking for the patients. How many patients will there
be? He does not think we have the ability to govern that anymore than how
many doctors will be there. He said these men are not asking to put a dance
hall or a sleezy nightclub in there....
