R2. <br />Recreation - Mrs. Bloom said the Recreation Committee will not be having <br />a Men's Softball team this year, as had been recently planned. <br />Senior Citizens Commission.on Aging - Mr. Busa said the Commission on Aging <br />has many activities and he is proud of that group. He asked Mrse riikula <br />(Coordinator) for comments. <br />Mrs. Mikula reported cheese was distributed to Mayfield Village Senior Citizens <br />and persons on welfare or unemployment about two weeks ago from the Mayfield <br />Heights Community Center. Butter was distributed to residents from our Community <br />Room about a week ago. Cheese and butter was taken to the homes of those who <br />wer.e unable to pick it up themselves. The Commission on Aging is holding their <br />First Anniversary Party.on May 21 at 1:00 p.m. They will be having a band so <br />the capacity of the Community Room is 150. They will take the first 150 <br />reservations, and there will be no charge. They are having a travelogue April 21 <br />and a pharmacist will speak on drug abuse (mixing medicines) on April 29. A bus <br />trip is also coming up. She suggested everyone read the flyer to the Senior <br />Gentry for more information. <br />Mr. Busa said the Mayor and Council is grateful to the Commission on Aging and <br />appreciate their efforts for the many activities they have planned. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />CEI Streetlighting Proposed Increase & Tariff - Mayor Beebe said he has ma.de <br />arrangements for a Representative from CEI to attend one of our Council meetings <br />in the near future. He has received correspondence from other Mayors expressing <br />their concern. <br />Mr. Busa said he feels we should be on record that we object to and oppose the <br />increase. <br />Viacom Cablevision Franchise Fee Increase - Mr. Carmen reported they are about <br />ready to file an application for the 2% increase to theregular franchise. He <br />will be discussing this with Mr. Feneli and will present a report at the May <br />meeting. <br />Discussion was held regarding deregulation, which•Mr. Carmen explained. Mr. <br />Feneli will be receiving a copy of the proposal and he and Mr.-Carmen will: <br />look into the matter further. <br />Beecher's Brook/Beech Hill Paving - Mr. Busa said the Resolutions of Necessity <br />were passed and the next step is for Council to appoint an Assessment Equalization <br />Board. He asked Council what they wanted to do. <br />Mr. Feneli said all notices to Beechers Brook and Beech Hill residents have been <br />received by the resident (we have received certified mail receipts)for all <br />residents except one. The deadline for f iling objections is now past - except <br />for this one. He s.uggested that Council discuss possible appointments to the <br />Assessment Equalization Board so that when the deadline for objection from that <br />last person comes, they will be ready to make their appointments, possibly by <br />the May Caucus.
