The fireworks had a good <br />turn out. <br />Steve Hovancsek was excused from the meeting at this time. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mrs. Bloom reported they are still on vacation. <br />Cemetery - Mr. Etzler said there was no report. <br />M.A.R.C. - Mr. Spellman said they are still on vacation and should meet in <br />September. <br />Planning & Zoning - Mr. Carmen reported the.Commission met August lst. The <br />only item on their agenda was the dog grooming parlor that will be going in at <br />847 SOM Center Road. There are no other proposals on the agenda so they have <br />not scheduled a-workshop meeting for this month. <br />Mayor Beebe said the ordinances on.dog grooming were explored and there is no <br />ordinance prohibiting dog grooming. The dogs will not be kept overnight. <br />Recreation - Mrs. Bloom reported the next event coordinated by the Recreation <br />Committee is the Mayfield Village Five Mile Road Race which will be September <br />25 at 8:30 a.m. Applications are being taken now. Volunteers are needed to <br />help direct traffic during the run. Mayor Beebe said Chief Stevens will be <br />discussing this with the Recreation Committee. <br />Commission on Aging - Mrs. Mikula reported the seniors will begin playing <br />bocci this Thursday. They enjoyed the Picnic in the Park and will continue ; <br />these activities as long as weather permits. They wi11 be having Nancy Maxim, <br />a Village resident, do handwriting character readirig for the senior gentry. They <br />are planning a three day bus trip the last week in September. <br />Special Projects Committee - Mr. Carmen said he and Mr. Toth would like to <br />start a flag.football league similar to the baseball program. They will be in <br />touch with the Recreation Committee for assista <br />Viacom's Emergency-over-ride system is now in effect. If there should be a <br />community-wide disaster, Viacom will be able tb over-ride the audio on all <br />cable channels to.report up-to-the-minute information. Also, there is a <br />number we can call in the event of a disaster. <br />Regarding Beta Days, he met last Tuesday with Mr. Gross and six other <br />representatives of businesses in the area who have expressed interest in <br />participating. A letter to the residents wi11 go out within the next week <br />informing them which businesses will be open and what they intend to do. <br />He noted several of the participants. <br />Mr. Carmen said they are awaiting a response from the Metro Park Board <br />regarding the bike path. <br />Mayor Beebe said when they met with Mr. Pavilonis from the Park Board today <br />regarding the skunk problem, he advised them they plan to extend the bike <br />path up to SOM Center Road.
