Mr. Feneli explained that when the original wage ordinance was written, the
blanket 10% increase was inadvertently not added to the part-time volunteer
firefighter, that this ordinance is to make that correction.
Discussion was held.
Council agreed this ordinance should be rewritten to make uniform the hourly
rate of $5.78 per hour (in some places in the ordinance it was listed as
$5.77) and to include a"part time Police Officer" at the rate of $7.00 per
hour. The previous ordinance listed.only auxiliary officers, not part time,
which gave the off icer no power to arrest. There will be a ceiling limit of
1,000 hours total for all part-time police officers per year.
Regarding, "An Ordinance creating Section 521.10 of the Codified Ordinances
of Mayfield Village, Ohio, prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors."
Mr. Feneli explained Mayor Beebe asked him to prepare this legislation.
Discussion was held.
Mr. Carmen suggested this ordinance be discussed with the Hillcrest Council of
Councils as Council agreed it would be best if other communities supported a
similar ordinance.
This ordinance to be put on the agenda for the Regular Meeting of March 15.
Resolution 82-15, entitled; "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A 1.6
MILL LEVY FOR PAYMENT OF SALARIES OF PERMANENT POLICE PERSONNEL COMMENCING
WITH THE TAX DUPLICATE FOR THE YEAR 1982 FOR A CONTINUING PERIOD OF YEARS
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by the Mayor and Council as a Whole.
Council President Spellman explained this ordinance asking for any comments
from Council.
Council President Spellman asked Mrs: Ruggles how many years it would be
necessary for this Resolution to rema.in in effect.
Mrs. Ruggles stated it would be necessary for five years.
Council agreed the Resolution should have a five year stipulation.
Mr. Feneli to rewrite this resolution to include the stipulation of five
years.
This resolution will be on the.agenda for the March 15 meeting.
Council President Spellman asked for a motion to advertise for bids for a
new police cruiser this coming month.
Mr. Etzler, seconded by Mrs. Bloom, made a motion that we advertise for bids
for a new police car.
