57 <br />Council President Spellman.stated he knows of another interested party, <br />and perhaps the two could work together if Mrs. Mikula decides to take <br />on the project. • • <br />Mrs..Mikula to let Mr. Spellman know of her decision shortly. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Safety.& Service - Mrs. Bloom stated the Committee has completed their <br />meetings with all Department Heads for determination of required purchases. <br />She stated the committee met with the Police Department on March 9 and <br />discussed the purchase.of a new police car. Mrs. Bloom said they wish to <br />purchase a full size car.by.1982 standards but that it would.be the same <br />size as the other Department Heads cars. She said it would become the <br />Chiefs car and his car would become a marked car. Mrs. Bloom stated it <br />is important that action should be taken tonight so we can advertise for <br />bids, otherwise we would be unable to purchase a 1982 car. <br />Council authorized the Clerk of-Council to advertise for bids. Council <br />President Spellman stated that an ordinance will not be needed until the <br />lowest and best bidder has been determined. <br />Mrs. Bloom stated discussion was held regarding the request for a charige <br />in the speed limit on Beta Drive. <br />Mrs. Bloom stated discussion was he.ld regarding changing the Auxiliary <br />Police Officers to Part Time Officers. A uniform allowance would have to <br />be established as the current ordinance has no provision for a part time <br />officer. <br />Council President Spellman stateci regarding ordinances 814 and 927 that <br />he submitted to the Safety & Service Committee for discussion, he has not <br />yet received any.comments. <br />Mr. Etzler stated the Safety & Service Committee has had several meetings <br />however, the agenda consisted of ineetings with each Department Head. He <br />said they did talk to Mr. Amendola regarding the snow plowing ordinance <br />and it is on their agenda to be discussed at their April meeting, <br />Mr. Etzler stated he would like Council to be aware that if a resident <br />advises the Service Department of a particular problem they will pay <br />special attention to the problem. <br />Finance - Mr. Etzler stated the Finance Committee met three times since <br />the last regular Council Meeting. He said one important matter discussed <br />was the f inalization of the wage ordinance. He said Chief Stevens and <br />Mr. Feneli were to get together to discuss the vacation schedule. Mr. <br />Etzler stated appropriations for codified ordinances were discussed, which <br />may or may not be done this year. He reported that Mr. Amendola sold the
