<br />Discussion was held regarding the appropriations ordinance which included <br />an allowance for the Community Room of $10,000.00, whether the money could <br />be used before the "matching funds" are received. <br />Mrs. Ruggles stated the ordinance does not designate these funds must be <br />matching. <br />Mrs. Hanus said work could be star.ted on the Community Room if the <br />architectural drawings were completed. " <br />Mr. Feneli'to prepare legislation as.the cost is over $5,000.00. <br />Beta Drive Speed Limit - Iric'rease <br />Council President Spellman stated he would like to amend the agenda to discuss <br />the change of the speed limit on Beta Drive and asked Chief Stevens for comments. <br />Chief Stevens.stated.the.reque'st for the.change of the 25 m.p.h. speed limit <br />on Beta Drive to 35 m.p.h. has been researched by the Law Director. He <br />explained the reason for the change is the completion of the street lighting <br />and the sidewalks in the area. <br />Council President Spellma.n asked for comments from Council. <br />Mr. Busa objected to the increase in the speed limit, his reasons being, the <br />old and handicapped persons using the street and the curve in the road. <br />Council agreed Dale Feneli should prepare legislation to increase the speed <br />limit on Beta Drive to 35 m.p.h. as both the Safety and Service Committee and <br />Chief Stevens recommend the increase. <br />Council President Spellman asked that this legislation not contain an <br />emergency clause. <br />Council President Spel.lma.n stated Council wi11 now go into Executive Session <br />with Mr. Steven Toth, at 9:48 p.m. He asked Mrs. Ruggles and Mr. Feneli <br />to go into Executive Session also. Mr. Toth .to be interviewed by Council <br />for the position of Finance Director. <br />Councilman Fred N. Carmen departed from the Executive Session at 10:00 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 10:20 p.m. <br />Council President Spellman stated Mr. Toth was informed Mayor Beebe would <br />be getting back to him. <br />
