88 Mrs. Hanus_stated after "Ch'ief.Steveris.stated he was not.familiar with the ordinance" - page six..- the.minutes should-.also include, "He also stated he had never.receiv&d:a'copy:of'the o'rdin.ance. He also said it was not practical'and did'not'see?how'it'could'be'enfbrced." Mr. Busa stated on page nine, after "Council President Spellman asked for comments from Council" that he had obj.ected to the increase in the speed limit_in the Indus'trial Park from.25 to.35 m.p.h. giving several reasons. He stated he would like this entered into the minutes. The reasons he cited being, the old and handicapped persons using.the street and the curve'in the.road. Council President Spellma.n stated there being no objections, the minutes will stand as corrected. MAYOR'S.COMMENTS Mayor Beebe stated he would like to discuss the Mayoral appointment of Mr. Steven Toth as Finance Ditector now. He.explained that last November the voters passed the amendment to the eharter .that decreed the Mayor.would appoint the Finance Director, as opposed to it being an elected position. Mayor Beebe stated he based his decision for the appointment on the following; knowledge of-municipal finance, background - more.in terms of current municipal kno.wledge as opposed to lengthy resumes reflecting knowledge in related.fields, sincerity, sincere interest in a long term position in a small..community, proximity to the Village, health, age, investment and bond counsel experience, past earning record.as opposed. to what we.can afford. He stated after talking to a number of potential applicants for the position, he has selected Mr. Steven To.th. Mr. Toth is currently a Finance Director in Willoughby Hills and was highly recommended by their Mayor and Council and by our.bond counsel, Squires, Sanders and..Dempsey. Mayor Beebe read a lis.t of Mr. Toth's.accomplishments, his professional experience, and his past his.tory. He stated Council had ` an opportunity to interview Mr. Toth last week. He read his letter.to Council asking for their confi:rmation of his appointment. He apologized for his lengthy presentation stating the appointment was to have been made at..the time of the November 16th certification from the Board of. Elections, making this appointment five months overdue. Council President Spellman asked.if Mayor Beebe had any further comments. Mayor Beebe stated that in fairness to Mr..Toth, he would ask that Council make a decision tonight, now. Council President Spellman stated the decision is up to Council. He said that Ruth Ruggles, our Financial Consultant, could not be with us tonight because her brother is having surgery.
