92 <br />on my right turned to Mr. Toth, a decent person, and said, "Oh - it's <br />politics". Politics - crud. We don't.need politics in this town. And <br />we're beginning to get it. And I'm not about to listen to it.anymore. <br />I've had alot of fun, I want to thank those backers that I have had, <br />they have been great people and it has been fun working with the majority. <br />We have great Depar.tment Heads, Gus and our two Chiefs over there on the <br />right, we've always been able to untangle our problems. But when it gets <br />into the political mess that it's in today, I want no part of it. I think <br />of this as I look at Al Hamilton's picture up there. Thank you. That's <br />the end of this month." <br />Mayor Beebe departed from the meeting. <br />Council President Spellman stated this is startling, he cannot believe <br />this evening. He announced Council will recess for five minutes (at <br />9:30 p.m.). <br />Council President Spellman reconvened the meeting at 9:37 p.m. asking <br />Mr. Hanus to knock on the Mayor's door and ask the honorable people to <br />come out. Those Council members not present were, Mr. Busa, Mr. Carmen, <br />and Mr. Etzler. Council President Spellman stated as there is still a <br />quorum the meeting should continue. <br />COUNCIL PRESIDENT' S COINMENTS <br />Council President Spellma.n stated he has no comment. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Bloom reported they met on April 14 and discussed <br />road repairs. The cement work to be done on Kenwood and Thornapple will <br />be approximately $42,000.00. There will be an additional cost of <br />approximately $13,000 -$18,000.00 for asphalt on other streets, so the <br />total cost would be between $55,000 and $60,000.00. She reported through <br />Mr. Amendola six spruce trees will be purchased for around the Service <br />Building and the Arco property. . <br />Mr. Flynn stated the cost involved is for the removal and planting of <br />the trees as they are Mr. Amendola's trees. . <br />Mrs. Bloom said Mr. Amendola will be discussing with Mr. Feneli the details <br />of the snow removal ordinance and the new ordinance will be presented at <br />the next Caucus. <br />Finance- Council President Spellman stated Mr. Etzler is not present, so <br />there is no report. <br />Architectural Reviera Bbard - Mr. Amendola stated there was no need for a <br />meeting this month. <br />
