-1 C ?
Mr. John LaRiche - 925:Beecher.1s.,Bro6k - said the road has been patched
several times in the seven years he has.lived there. He feels any asphalt
that was resurfaced, even if no one drove on it, that chuckholes and
deterioration would still occur within ten to twelve years.
Mr. Raia commented that Mr. Stankus who lives on Beecher's Brook is an
authority on highway road building in this area. Several times Beecher's
Brook Road was patched by contractors that had just finished a highway
job, at his request. It was not all done by the Village.
Mr. Etzler stated the bond allocations is something the Village is going to
have to look into. As far as the road is concerned, the normal procedure
is for the Village to accept for maintenance a road that has been right and
properly installed. He feels the suggestion of the Village installing the
road and the property owners maintaining it is backwards.
Mr. Raia commented they felt the expense of maintaining the road would be
less than the cost of repaving. He feels the Village should recognize their
error in returning the bond and fix the road.
Mr. Frank Russo stated five of the original residents that were there when
this happened still reside on Beechers Brook. Mr. Stankus and NIr. Raia
pleaded with the Village at that time not to let their road be used when
building the houses at Aintree North, which is what created the problem.
Mr. Amendola said he would like kept in mind the problems the Service Department
has when plowing snow on barricaded roads.
A resident commented in the event of a fire a barricade could cost someboyd's
life, because of the difference in arrival time of the Fire Department.
Yir. Raia commented the difference was difficult to measure as it is less than
one tenth of a mile.
Council President Spellman said Council will study the proposal at its
Committee of the Whole Meeting next Monday, June 28. The comments made in
reference to Beech Hill will be considered at that meeting also. Then
Council will get back to all the residents of Beech Hill and Beechers Brook.
Hickory Hill Drive
Council President Spellman stated Judge Grogan attended a Council Meeting a
couple of weeks ago and has also talked to several Council members about a
commitment that was made on Hickory Hill Drive. He said he is not completely
aware of what the problems entail asking if Mr. Amendola could comment.
Mr. Amendola explained a dual catch basin has collapsed which is one of 32
that has collapsed in the Village, requiring repair. It has since been
opened and repair 'nas been started. It will require a period of time to
repair as the pipe is cracked on the inside. It must be repaired properly
and could not be done during the winter or spring months so they have just
begun the work now.
