i 60
?
Mr. Feneli said he is not prepared to comment regarding this letter as he
has just seen a copy of it this evening.
Mr. Frank Russo - 899 Beechers Brobk'D'rive - said the situation is unique
as a bond was posted in 1968 and the bond was.returned to the developer and
not used to repair the street as it should have been. He said the residents
are willing to compromise, they are willing to keep uo the road once the
Village puts the asphalt in. According to estimates he has received, the job
should cost $8,000.00 to $10,000.00. Once the road was repaired satisfactorily,
the residents would sign that the Village has no more responsiUility to repair
the road. He said the situation is such that there is room to make the street
a dead end or one way street asking for time from the Building Inspector or
Fire Marshall to possibly work something out.
Mrs. Bloom asked Mr. Hovancsek if the price quote of approximately $10,000.00
was fairly accurate.
Mr. Hovancsek said that $10,000.00 would not do a good job on that road. In
order to establish a road that would have a minimum amount of maintenance,
long term, a considerable amount of work would have to be done.
Mr. Frank Russo commented an Engineer and an Architect live on Beechers Brook
who gave him a price of $7,000.00 a year or two ago so he came up with the .
f igure of $10, 000 . 00 .
Mr. Marc Raid commented the reason for wanting to barricade the road was to
help preserve the road, so the residents in the back would not use the road.
He asked if they could be asked to contribute to maintenance costs.
Mr. Feneli said every resident of this Village who lives on any street or
roadway is responsible for the maintenance of their roadway, whether it is
through the repairs done by the Village at the expense of all the taxpayers
or when a resurfacing program is undertaken and they are assessed. It would
be impossible for us to let every resident decide that their street would be
a dead end or one way street. He stated Beechers Brook is a public road,
dedicated for public use. Mr. Feneli said he will check into the $5,000.00
bond matter.
Mr. Frank Russo - said when the Aintree development was built, they used that
road to haul all of the materials in to build about 100 houses. The builder
told the residents of the street they were going to use the road, they would
not put a new road in, but they would put a bond at Village Hall. They were
to resurface or repair the road Uefore they left. The developer went bankrup.t
and the road was never repaired, as it should have been.
Mayor Beebe stated he has discussed the
Maynard, Clerk of Council, who lived in
a copy of said bond was attached to the
residents asking what record the residei
not have such record in our files.
subject of a"bond" with PZrs. Eloise
the area at that time. He asked if
letter from the Old Beechers Brook
zts have of that bond, because we do
