?I t% <br />Mayor Beebe said he suggested to Council that a Rules Committee be established. <br />He said he also suggested that representatives.from the groups who presently <br />use the Council Chambers to hold their meetings be on the committee. Since <br />the building is community owned, paid for by the taxpayers, he suggested that <br />three residents be considered to be on the committee, also representation from <br />the Legal Department. He does ftot want to be a part of the committeeo Mayor <br />Beebe said he gave copies.of Community Room rules of three other communities <br />to Council. He stated Council wi11 decide what rules are to be drawn up in <br />the ordinance. He said the Community Room would be a source-of income, ' <br />excluding those groups who use.the Council Chambers of any charge. <br />Mr. Frank Hanus, 739 SOM Center Road - stated he did not understand why outsiders <br />should be brought in to help make these decisions and feels it should be taken <br />care of by Council, onlye <br />Mr. Pete Nickerson, 6705 Glenview Road - stated by the Mayors desire of forming <br />a Rules Committee that the Ma.yor feels the committee members that have worked <br />hard are incapable of forming rules for the Community Room. <br />Mayor Beebe stated he.was suggesting the idea of a Rules Committee to Council <br />for their consideration. He will be the person receiving the calls from those <br />requesting to use the Community Room and must have answers. Certain guidelines <br />must be set. He said he discussed this ma.tter with Nancy Plastine who suggested <br />the copies of the other communities rules be xeroxed for the Community Room <br />Committee members. <br />Mrs. Nancy Plastine, 6593 Wilson Mi11s Road - stated she did not understand why <br />Mayor Beebe was overstepping the committee to get other citizens to make rules. <br />She said the committee is surely capable of making up rulesfor the Community <br />Room. She saicl members from all groups that use the Council Chambers are <br />on the Community Room Committee. <br />Mayor Beebe stated other taxpayers contributed to the Community Room and thought <br />it might be fair to get their opinions. <br />Mrs. Hanus said each Council member is a Representative from a different committee. <br />and feels they_could get the input from each group to present to all of Councila <br />Mr. George Goley - 865.Lander.Road - asked. if comments are being accepted from <br />the floor. <br />Council President Spellman said yes. <br />Mr. Goley asked if thi:s is an open part of the meeting. <br />Council President Spellman replied, yes it is. <br />i <br />Mre Goley asked if comments were being accepted on any subject. <br />Council President Spellman stated, not necessarily, just what is on the <br />agenda.
