213 <br />Mr. Carmen stated he would like to poirit out.that.the person who ultimateiy <br />proposed to Council that mqney should be made available to complete the <br />Community Room this year was the Mayor. He thinks everyone needs to realize <br />that everybody who doe's anything on this Council does what they think.is best <br />for the Village. <br />Ma.yor Beebe stated he would like to welcome his.Secretary, Donna Heath, back <br />as she has.been out because of surgery. <br />Mayor Beebe read the letter he received from the Mayfield Historical Society, <br />as follows: <br />Dear Mayor Beebe & Members of Council, <br />The Mayf ield Township Historical Society would like to thank <br />you for the hospitality that.you have extended to us over the <br />past six years. We have enjoyed and appreciated us.ing the <br />Mayfield Town Hall as our meeting place and for our historical <br />displays. Ma.yfield was the center of the original township and <br />we f.eel that the township communities have profited,from your <br />generosity. <br />We are beginning our seventh year on Wednesday, the eighth <br />of September at eight p.m. here at.the Town Hall and would like <br />to inuite you to attend the meeting. <br />Arthur Williams, President <br />Mayor Beebe said he would like.to commend this committee-for their effor.ts, <br />He recommended that Council try to attend one of their meetings. <br />Mayor Beebe stated that sometimes we lose sight of why things happen. For <br />many.years the.Mayor and his Secretary have had to allocate the Council <br />Chambers for various groups.. There were times when several meetings were <br />going on in one evening. Several years ago, because of the new Service <br />Building he asked Mr. Amendola i-f the old Salt Shed could be converted into <br />some type of ineeting room and.that is how the Community Room project began. <br />Council President Spellman asked that Mayor Beebe check into the repair of <br />the microphone system. <br />Mr. Etzler stated there will be a Safety & Service Meeting September.9th at. <br />8:00 p.m: <br />Mrs. Hanus stated she will be distributing copies of,a letter regarding the <br />Mayor's comments on Village Days, the comments from the Committee, and the <br />minutes of the August 11 Village Days Meeting. Mrs. Hanus stated the Village <br />Days Committee members worked very hard and were very unliappy with the Mayor's <br />comments about Village Days. She reported the profits from Village Days and <br />the F1ea Market were $2,919.04 with a possible additional $40.00. <br />Mayor Beebe apologized if the Committee felt his critique was rough. Included <br />in.his critique he said he thought things went generally well at Village Days. <br />He mentioned areas that could be improved. He said he will never write another <br />critique.
