M
Mayor Beebe stated the matter of dish antennas is still pending and needs
clarif ication. We received our f irst request and Mr. Amendola does not
yet have an ordinance that stipulates what can and cannot be done (how big,
how high an antenna is permitted).
Mayor Beebe stated the Voice of'the Village went to the printer today.
COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS
Council President Spellman stated he would like to urge the Mayor to dispose
of the many old records being stored at the Village Hall. He said a letter
from Mr. Feneli was sent to Mayor Beebe in reference to that.
Council Fresident Spellman stated, in reference to the ordinances pending;
Ordinance 82-42 was tabled. Ordinance 82-53 - There is already such legislation
in the Codified Ordinances. Ordinance 82-64 regarding the Beta Drive speed
limit - It was decided it would be kep-t at 25 mph because.of Beta nays. He
said it is primari"ly a decision by the Mayor and Police Chief but the ordinance
was placed on f irst reading in July. It is up to a Councilperson to initiate
that ordinance or any legislation they wish to see acted upon.
STANDING CONZ4ITTEE REPORTS
Safety & Service - Mrs. Bloom stated 'the Safety & Service Committee met
September 9th in the Police Department. The radio console specif ications
are ready, however, it was questioned if the transmitter will be suff icient
or if a new one will be needed. Chief Stevens suggested if a.new one is needed
that it be purchased as a package with the console. The transmitter will be
evaluated by an expert and as soon as the Finance Committee receives the
information they will lie able to advertise for bids.' There are five fire
hydrants that need repair. Quotes of over $5,000.00 were received so the
repairs will be subject to Council approval. The Committee discussed employment
contracts for new employees. The money spent on training, etc..of new employees
prompted this. They also discussed the request fr.om Chief Stevens and C"tiief
Hejcl that Lieutenants be considered for both Departments. An existing Sergeant
would be made Lieutenant and the Sergeant would not be replaced. The Lieutenant '
would be second in command. The Fire Department would like one Lieutenant per
shift. The Police Department.requested an additional officer that would be on
duty from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The Police Department will be changing their uniforms
from light blue to dark.blue shirts. The Auxiliary Officers will need two shirts
and since it is a uniform change the Village should assume the cost. The other
officers can use their clothing allowance. Chief Stevens requested radar
equipment in the amount of $2,000.00 and new guns for $11,200.00. Chief Stevens
and Chief Hejcl questioned if Department Heads need to attend all Council Meetings..
They both requested compensation for overtime or compensa.tory time off.
Council President Spellman stated he would like to discuss the fire hydrant
repairs now and the other items will be placed on the October 4th agenda.
