29 <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM MAYOR CARMEN <br />Mayor Carmen'announced the confirmation of the Village Days Committee members.. <br />He stated Mr. and Mrs. Beebe are also members but were unable to be present <br />this evening and will be sworn in at anothertime. He stated his wife, Karen, <br />was sworn in privately and will be taking pictures as he administers the oaths <br />of office. He administered the oath of office to the following: <br />Marie Basile <br />Bob Beatty <br />Karen & Ron Ceehner <br />A1 & Nancy Farinacci <br />Vera Fuller <br />Harold Rassau <br /> <br />Mayor Carmen said the Recreation Committee has agreed to assist the Village Days <br />Committee in the p].anning of Village Days. The date of.the first meeting will <br />be set soon. <br />Mayor Carmen introduced.Gar.y.,Warner and James Pero, two new part-time firefighters <br />who are also paramedics. He administered the oath of office to them. <br />Mayor Carmen read highlights from three proclamations: <br />March as American Red Cross Mon,th, <br />March 16 - 26 The Week of Jewish Women, <br />March 11 - 17 Girl Scout Week. <br />He stated he will be sending a letter to the Water Department regarding their <br />oyersight in the water probl,em, wFiicli affected the safety of the residents. <br />As mentioned earlier, he is seeking a part-time animal warden. <br />He is pleased to announce that earlier this evening Council decided on an 8% <br />pay increase for all employees. The 1984 budget wi11 pass this evening, and <br />they are b.eginning to work on the 1985 budget. <br />He reported Council is considering an estimate and drawing from the.Engineer <br />for a left turn Tane at. SOM and Highland. <br />He asked Council to accept the quote received for Police Liability Insurance. <br />He stated there will be a short executive sess.ion following this meeting to <br />discuss litigation. ' <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNC.IL PRESIDENT ETZLER <br />Mr. Etzler had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD COMMENTS <br />Mr. Hovancsek reported bids on Beech Hill came in lower than the Engirieer's <br />estimate. He requested Council consider passage of the ordinance awarding <br />the contract.
