Regular Council Meeting
4/18/88
Page 5
SOM/Beta Signal - Mr. Basile said Mr. Hovancsek said that C.E.I. will be
installing the light power to the poles on Wednesday or Thursday and on
Saturday it will be energized and by Saturday evening April 23 it will be
operational.
Progressive's New Drive
Mr. James Heller of Keeva J. Kekst Architects Iuc. showed the landscape
plans f or the new Progressive Drive. He explained that the plan indicates
that the major tree buffer is to remain and is strictly removed as indicated
by the City Engineer strictly where the road cuts through it. The existing
road will be removed after the new road would be installed and then it would
be seeded and landscaped. The plan also indicates a new landscaping
treatment to go where the old road was as well as along the corner of. the
property including new trees, bushes, etc. He said this was shown as a
conceptual plan to be accepted by the Planning Commission. It is also
identified by a plant list using mechanical names specifying specific trees
and bushes.
Mr. Rinker said that Council did not have the code identifying the trees,
etc., and asked Mr. Heller to point out what some of the trees are.
Mr. Heller said that there are a variety of trees and bushes which range in
height and cited some of the specifics. He said this is only addressing
starting from where the existing drive is picked up at the top of the
driveway from that point north; that it is not addressing anywhere else.
Mre Heller said that it is strictly where the new driveway is being carved
in. He said they are also planting 12 trees along.the landscaped median.
He explained that the median is curved so you will not be able to look
straight in any direction and be able to.see into it and that it will. keep
the traffic at a slow pace. Mr. Heller said that there will be one 16' wide
inbound lane and at the throat going from two lanes to three to permit the
strong right-hand or eastbound move. It aligns properly as directed by
Village Engineer Hovancsek as far as its alignment with Alpha.
Jeff Schiemann - said on January 26 Mayor Carmen signed a contract with
Progressive.that pretty much said within ten days they were to have all four
houses listed (owned by Progressive.) He said in talking with Bruce tonight
he was_ told that one house was listed for 6-8 weeks and two of the. other
houses (if he is correct) were listed this week or maybe the week before,
and one of the houses is still in limbo as f ar as we know--it cannot be
found in the listings anywhere as.of _April 11.
? ,• .
Mr. Rinker said that he understands that three out of four we can account
for in_some fashion. One was listed but is now in something of a limbo; it
is temporarily withdrawn. He thinks that is 833. He said that he believed
there was an eviction process starting and there is an agreement reached
where he will be out by the end of April, however, one of the brokers has
said that it is a pigsty inside and before they want to show it they want to
clean it up. Mr. Rinker said that he had tried to get one of the agents
here this evening. He said it is his understanding that Realty One has
taken on all four and they have been assigned to three different agents. He
• did not reach any one of them on.the phone.today;.he was hoping they could
be here to describe the particulars of that and to give an answer on what
happened to the f ourth house.
