Stevens said, that due to_the abnormal amount of traffic at that <br />intersection,; it might be possible to alter the timing of,the signal.for the <br />construction period. He said there is a method for changing such signals <br />and read informati.on f,rom.a the.: Manual of,.. Uniform Traffic Code Advisory <br />pertaining to the Request for Modification for Hours of Operation or; the <br />Timing of a Village Traffi•c Control Signal. He said that we have to submit <br />quite a bit of data and send it in.and seek their.a.pproval; ,we can't jus.t do <br />it arbitrarily on their owna <br />Mr. Russo said.the information,they.received is that they will normally <br />routinely approve those requests without a great deal of scrutiny. After <br />they receive the request., unless they find,some great fault with it they <br />approve it and put it in the file. <br />Mayor Carmen said he will_be talking to.:Chief Stevens on Wednesday about <br />this. He said he expects, barring some information which he can't foresee <br />at this point, that a change will be made quickly. , <br />Mr.. Bill.Marquardt,.6.698 Wildwood Trail.-_said while the tr,affic study. is <br />being taken on that corner that the topic of the turnout on S.O.M. Center <br />Road should be considered. He thinks the turnout is an accident waiting to <br />happen. Anyone who is heading south on S.O.M. and tries to make a left into <br />Wildwood cannot see when_anyone is pulling around traffic_on S.O.M. <br />Mr. John Iaf.elice,. 6707. Wildwoo.d Trail - said the.bike. path is an accident <br />waiting.to happen.... He s.aid whe.n kids come around the co.rner.on their bikes <br />or walking, people are going on that bike.p.ath. He..asked.why,it is so wide <br />and.why it has a.yellow str.ipe on it. Mr. Iafelice said that.neighbors ..and <br />people who live.,in. the.Village realize it's a bike path but half the <br />strangers that drive down there think it's.a road. He said that whole <br />corner is a joke. Mr. Iafelice said the whole intersection should be looked <br />at; it's really a mess up there. - <br />Kerry Paluscsak, Viacom -.said he will be.attending meetings as part of a <br />Key Contract P_r.ogram that Viacom.is init.iating.. He s_aid that he will answer <br />questions that.anyone may have regarding cable service, .. <br />Mr. Iafelice said he feels we should be putting something up so that cars <br />can't have access to the bike path. , 7 <br />Mayor Carmen said he does not believe anyone could mistake the bike path for <br />a road.... <br />Chief Stevens asked if Mr. Iafelice was.referring to cars that go onto the <br />bike path where it adjoins the bypass lane to go around all the cars. <br />Mayor Carmen said we have talked about a guardrail for the bike path. The <br />topic may be in the Safety and Service.Committee or the Finance Committee. <br />He said we are looking at cost_and structure;? what the, appropriate -barrier <br />should be between the guardrail, the bike path, and the road. He said <br />hopefully that will resolve some of the problem to make it.safer for the <br />pedestrian and the.;mo,torist.,, <br />Mayor Carmen said they would look at the area on Wednesday.
