131 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />10/17/88 <br />Page 3 <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Mills said the Committee met October 12. <br />She said that Chief Stevens is pricing 420 megahertz radios necessary <br />for the new communication radio frequncies that will be in operation <br />in early '89. She said that training on the Enhanced 911 service was <br />held on October 13 and full operation October 14. She asked if both <br />Chief Mohr and Sgt. Jay feel that it is working. <br />They said yes. <br />Mrs. Mills said that Chief Stevens would like us to be aware of <br />advertising for a new cruiser for the year of '89. The advertisement <br />for the fire truck has been placed and bids will be opened on October <br />21. She said that repair and replacement for the Service garage roof <br />would cost approximately $20-25,000. Mr. Amendola has suggested <br />temporary repair of.the roof for $2,400 and replacement of gutters at <br />$2,130. She said that this is a total of about $4,500 and is <br />something that we should consider. <br />Mr. Petschauer arrived at this time (8:13 p.m.). <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Aintree North Drainage - Mr. Ramos said that he wrote a letter to Pat <br />Caticchio about 10 days ago but he has not yet responded. He said <br />that he has called and left messages and Mr. Caticchio has called <br />back but he wasn't in the office when he called back. <br />White Road Ditches - Mr. Hovancsek said that he called the County but <br />has not had a response. He said that he should hear from them later <br />this week and that he will write a memo to Council. <br />Replacement for Joe Abate - Mr. Amendola said that no one would be <br />available to fill the position until- after the first of the year so <br />he thinks that it would be best to put it on the shelf for now. <br />No Parking Signs at Fisher's Tavern - Chief Mohr said that they <br />toured Mayfield Village this past week (not only Fisher's Tavern but <br />other businesses and offices). He said that they have a list to <br />present to Council so wherever they want to go from there. <br />Mayor Carmen said that he felt it would be appropriate for the list <br />to be referred to the Safety and Service Committee for their <br />recommendation. <br />Assistant Service Director - Mr. Basile asked if this issue had been <br />resolved. <br />Mayor Carmen said that we have been researching the issue to see <br />whether or not there needs to be a promotional examination for the <br />position or not. He asked Mr. Ramos to give an update. <br />Mr. Ramos said that initially.when they were looking at the position <br />of Assistant Director they were looking under Section 4.8 entitled <br />promotional examinations.
