146 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />11/21/88 <br />Page 2 <br />Mayor Carmen said that he has received many more positive comments about the <br />leaf program this year than ever before. Hats off to the Service Department <br />for a good job. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Architectural Review Board - Mrs. Martin reported that the following items <br />were considered at the last two meetings: a sign for Network Video, an <br />accessory building, 3 single-family dwellings, a swimming pool, a satellite <br />dish antenna, a porch enclosure, and contingent approval was given on an open <br />car cover. <br />Board of Appeals - Mrs. Martin said that the contingent approval for a car <br />cover by the Architectural Review Board was considered. She said that the <br />Board denied the variance request. <br />Cemetery - Mrs. Cinco said that they are preparing the end-of-year financial <br />statements now. <br />Commission on Aging - Mrs. Cinco said that their Christmas Party will be held <br />on December 17 from 1-4 p.m. in the Community Room. She said that in January, <br />they will submit a full slate of names to be on the Commission and that they <br />hope to be back to a full slate by January. <br />Finance Committee - Mr. Flynn said that the committee met tonight. They <br />recommend the following legislation to Council for approval: Resolution No. <br />88-52, 88-53, 88-54, 88-55, 88-57 and Ordinance 88-43. <br />Mr. Hovancsek arrived at this time (8:07 p.m.) <br />Mr. Flynn said that the Finance Committee will meet on November 28 at 7:30 <br />p.m. Any Council members who wish to attend will be welcome. He said that <br />the wage proposals they have received will be discussed. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Santoro said there was no report. <br />Historical Society - Mrs. Cinco said the Turkey Raffle was nice. <br />M.A.R.C. - Mr. Santoro explained to the members of the audience that M.A.R.C. <br />stands for Mayfield Area Recreation Councila He said that their purpose is to <br />plan, coordinate, and sponsor recreational activities to expand the <br />recreational opportunities available to Mayfield Heights, Gates Mills, <br />Highland Heights, Lyndhurst, and Mayfield Village. Indoor flag football and <br />floor hockey are some of the activities that are now underway. He said they <br />also have a ski program. Mr. Santoro asked Mr. Rinker to report on the <br />meeting held regarding the swimming pool. <br />Mr. Rinker said that discussion was held regarding what extent M.A.R.C. would <br />supervise pool activities outside of the regular school program. The biggest <br />concern was liability. The end result is that consistent with the insurance <br />policy that governs the school board, an Advisory Board will be developed. It <br />will have M.A.R.C. as the Representative and there will be representatives <br />from each of the four communities along with representatives from other <br />groups.
