148
Regular Council Meeting
11/21/88
Page 4
Delineators for Bicycle Path - Sgt. Jay said that Chief Stevens said that the
Service Department was to purchase the delineators.
Mrs. Martin said that they could order them. She said that according to the
minutes of the last Citizen's Advisory Board, the residents were concerned
that delineators would not look good all the way down S.O.M. Center Road.
Mrs. Martin asked if this had been discussed.
Mr. Santoro said they were more concerned with safety.
Mrs. Flugan (Citizen's Advisory Board member in the audience) said that one
person had spoken up about that but that most people are concerned with the
safety factor.
Mrs. Martin asked if she should place the order for the delineators or obtain
prices on them.
Mayor Carmen asked if there was a more aesthetic way to do it.
Sergeant Jay said that he does not feel there is a more aesthetic way to mark
the path. He said if you are looking for protection, there would have to be a
physical barrier.
Discussion was held.
Mayor Carmen said he would like to check to see if grant monies are available
on the County or State level to assist us with the cost of barriers.
Sgt. Jay said that he felt delineators might be helpful at the northeast
corner of SOM and Wildwood to help to define the area better.
Drainage on North Side of Highland - Mr. Basile said the problem exists on the
south side of Highland Road in back of the Industrial Park and asked if it was
a Village problem.
Mr. Hovancsek said yes; he would think so.
Mr. Flynn said the area involved Forest City and Clarkwood Apartments. He
thinks we might have to consider assessment or whatever it takes. He said he
thinks that Mr. Ramos should give an opinion on how to handle the problem.
Mr. Ramos said that Forest City has said that they are willing to pay for
their share. He said that everyone could be contacted to see if they would be
willing to pitch in or the Village could do the work and assess them.
Mr. Hovancsek said that he prepared a quote several months ago.
Mayor Carmen suggested this be discussed at Caucus.
Pesticide Ordinance - Mr. Basile asked if our ordinance was enforcable and
asked what should be done.

Mayor Carmen said that according to the last thing he had seen, that our
ordinance is enforcable. He said we will enforce it until it is superceded.
