56
he requested from Mr.. Feneli. However, since that time he has received
the information he requested and is pleased with-the resultso The
Charter Review Commissio.n has come up with about 35 differant proposed
changes in the Charter.
Mr. Deal said that in the next 4-8 weeks before the July meeting, the
Charter Review Commission will reduce the number of changes to eight that
they would like Council to submit to the voters. They plan to add a
Commission on Aging to_.the Charter. If anyone has any questions, they
are welcome to attend a meeting, or contact him. They are on schedule
and wi11 be meeting with Mr. Feneli on June 4th.
Mayor Carmen said he has been watching with interest the minutes of the
Charter Review Commission. He urges them to look at the proposed changes
carefully and determine the necessary changes before asking Council to
submit them to the voters.
Mr. Florian Rickey, 6128 Wilson Mills Road, said there is still a problem with
Front Row traffic. He said about a year ago he brought this problem
up to Mayor Carmen and Council. He was told he would be invited to a
meeting with the Mayfield Village Officials and the Mayor of Highland
Heights in an effort to solve the problem-.- He has not been contacted.
He explained the problems in detail. He does not understand how the Front
Row cari control the traffic lights, and would like to know if.:Maqfield
Village has any solution planned.
Mayor Carmen said he had two meetings with Mayor Hughes of Highlan&!
Heights and their respective traffic officers and Engineer. Mayor Hughes
requested the meetings be private, without residents. Many possible solutions
were discussed, but no one has come up with a good solution to enable
us to get residents in and out of their streets without inconveriience. A
traffic study was done which showed that the number of cars did not justify
placing a traffic officer in the area. Mayor Carmen said they are still
searching for solutions to the problem; they have not forgotten it exists.
Mr. Rickey expressed concern regarding major problems that could develop
if a police car or ambulance were unable to get through the traffic.
Mayor Carmen said he has watched the traffic on three different occasions
and is aware of the problem. He said that Mayor Hughes does not feel any
further meetings with he and Council are necessary. He suggested Mr.
Rickey and other residents attend a Highland Heights Counc:il Meeting to
voice the:ir opinion.
Mr. Flynn suggested Mayor Hughes, the Highiand Heights Council President and
Police Chief be invited to attend the next Caucus.
Mr. Jerry Tomko, 6719 Hickory Hills Drive, said the greenhouse at the property
at 455 S.O.M Center Road needs cleaned up.
