He administrered the Oath of Office th Alan Prizzi as a part-time <br />firefighter. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT ETZLER <br />Mr. Etzler had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD.REPORTS <br />Mr. Hovancsek suggested Council authorize the preparation of plans and <br />authorize the advertisement of bids for street striping. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Amendola reported that four sets of drawings <br />for new homes were approved, one set of plans were rejected, and they re- <br />quested that another set be re-submitted.'• <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Amendola said there was no requirement for a meeting <br />last month. <br />Cemetery - Mr. Goley said they had their annual meeting. Margaret Riedel <br />was re-elected Treasurer of Trustees,: The sign was repainted. Gus did <br />a fabulous.job., the.only problem is that when they backed up to take the sign <br />down, they left some ruts. They tried to patch them, but they should be <br />patehed better with fill dirt. He also asked Gus to check the sidewalk. <br />It was taken out for a utility company and a new sidewalk was put in which <br />has settled down about two inches from the adjoining sidewalk. Mr. <br />Goley asked Mr. Etzler to look at the gates on the mosleum to see what <br />could be done with them. There are a munber of dead trees that must be <br />taken care of also. It will have to be done professionally and will <br />probably be at a substantial cost, which may increase future dues. Mr. <br />Goley said there is still-a problem with people dumping retuse behind the <br />cemetery and asked Mayor Carmen if he could contact the residents in the <br />area to a"sk them to watch for this. A lawnmower is due to break-down <br />soon. He reminded the Engineer that Council determined they would waive <br />the street lighting assessment to the Cemetery when it is re-assessed. <br />The current balance in the: fund is $1,000. <br />Commission on Aging - Mr. Etzler had no report <br />Finance - Mr. Flynn said they discussed the road program at their April <br />21; 1986, meeting. The number one priorities are Thornapple, Worton Park, <br />and Seneca. Asphalt resurfacing of these streets wil.l come to about <br />$112,000 including $5,000 for Service Department preparation. At the erid <br />of June other asphalt roads will be reviewed, and we will see where we <br />stand at that time. The Committee also discussed tYie 18-20 car parking <br />lot for the Community Room with the possibility of Federal funding. Since <br />their meeting they have received the ordinance from the Law Director <br />concerning public land use. He asked Mr. Hovancsek where we starid, <br />regarding the bidding on the major roads. .
