118 <br />Mr. Hovancsek said there will be ,increased water flow to the pond on Upper <br />Fo•rty, but not on Thornapple. <br />Mayor Carmen said a study was done recently of the various problem areas <br />in the Village. During the study they looked at the pond and determined <br />that action must be taken to help alleviate the problem. Mr. Hovancsek <br />was taking t.he first step, checking to see if funds were available to <br />assist us. We will follow up. Mayor Carmen said that Mr. Hovancsek will <br />be in touch with Mr. Pierce periodically, to give him progress reports,-etc. <br />Shiela Hanus, 729 SOM Center Road, asked what progress is being made about <br />the flowing stream behind her home and the drain pipe. <br />Mr. Feneli said that he has prepared a right of entry for Mr. and Mrs. Piunno <br />and Mrs. Strunk, but since Mrs. Strunk's children are listed on the deed, <br />they must also sign rights of entry. He hopes to have it completed by the <br />end of this week. <br />CONSIDERA.TION OF MINUTES: <br />Regular N,.eeting of Council - August 18, 1986 - Mr. Etzler noted a correction <br />on page 6, second paragraph from the bottom which reads, "Mr. Etzler commented <br />thut the work load on five is such that more help could b.e used; however, he <br />didn't feel seven were needed." He feels it will increase property values because a better schcol <br />system would make the community a more desirable place to live. He urged <br />everyone to support the pool levy. <br />Mayor Carmen said the. smoking ordinance is not on tonight's agenda, b.ut will <br />come up at the next meeting in October. A'meeting was held with the <br />representatives of businesses and they seemed to be satisfied with the <br />voluntary compliance program. Minimum standards have been included in the <br />ordinance; businesses will have six months to voluntarily comply. If they <br />meet those minimum standards, the ordinance will not go into effect but will <br />be put cn hold for another six months, as long as al1 businesses are in <br />compliance. He feels that everyone will agree that it is a good compromise <br />piece of legislation when it comes forward. , <br />E
