. . ... . ' . ., ..1. :
. . . . .. ? '??
Regular Council Meering
5/21/90
Page 7
NEW BUSINESS
Village Davs - Mayor Carmen said he has an update on some of costs associated with Village
Days. He asked that if Council has any problems with these costs that they let him know now.
Mayor Carmen said that the floats will cost approximately $5,500, the balloon will cost
approximately $3,750, and the fireworks will cost $4,999. There is additional entertainment costs
of about $3,000 and charges for tents and a sound system. He said we currently have
underwriring between $6-7000 toward the floats and balloon. The underwriting we have received
does not include the dollars we will receive from the rib burn-off participants and food vendors.
He said the vast majority of the event is probably underwritten. We will take in a percentage for
the rides and games and he thinks it will be close to "a wash" or better. Mayor Carmen said our
past experience has been plus or minus $1,000 and he thinks that is where we will be this year.
Mr. Basile said that volunteers aze needed
Mrs. Cinco asked who was underwriting the petting zoo.
Mayor Carmen said that no one is underwriring the petting zoo and asked that if anyone has any
problems with these numbers to let him know now so that adjustments can be made.
Mrs. Mills said she has a problem with the balloons about safety.
Mayor Carmen said that he has talked to the company who is providing the balloon and it can be
taken under the wires, etc. without a lot of problems.
Wilev Field Roair - Discussion was held.
Mark Fixler (in the audience) said that he received a bid on the worst case scenario if the fields
would be totally "trashed" after Village Days, of $7,000 for about 21/2 weeks work.
Mayor Carmen suggested that specifications be drawn for the worst case scenario and be given to a
few individuals. Then, he suggested before anyone is authorized to do the work that:
1) we talk to Gus Amendola and the Service Department to see how much they can do
2) we get written quotations from whoever can do the rest of the work
Mr. Pietrafese said that he would work with Mr. Amendola. He does not want to have a delay of
the usage of the fields.
Mayor Carmen said that Council could authorize up to a certain number of dollars to do the repair
work.
Mr. Amendola said the biggest problem with the field is that it does not drain.
Discussion was held. Mr. Pietrafese will work with Mr. Hovancsek about drainage ideas. Mr. Hovancsek will shoot
grades.
