1. 62 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />9/17/90 <br />Page 4 <br />Recreation - Mr. Pietrafese said the 5 Mile Run and two mile walk will be held October 14. The <br />baseball card show will be held October 13 and 14. Volunteers to help with food and work the <br />ticket-ta.king are needed. He asked if a vote was needed to approve the budget. <br />Mrs. Mills said the appropriation ordinance to replenish the Recreation Board fund is included on <br />the agenda. <br />Mr. Pietrafese asked if Mr. Agresta has been paid. <br />Mr. Patrick said he believes he has been paid for June, July, and August. <br />Mr. Pietrafese expressed thanks to Mr. Amendola for helping with the Service Building, etc. <br />Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco said they met September 10. They were updated on leaf machines <br />and hydrants. Three snow plows were approved and passed that evening at the Council meeting. <br />'I'he committee discussed sidewalks and the gazebo. The legislation for the station wagon for the <br />Service Department will be considered tonight. The committee will be discussing the hiring of two <br />new firemen. The lock box ordinance amendment is on the agenda. The amendment states that all <br />businesses will be compelled to comply; that they must have the boxes installed within one year-- <br />not just new businesses. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Gazebo update - Dedicarion Date and Ceremonv - Mr. Amendola said the painter will probably be <br />finished tomorrow. <br />Mayor Cartnen said he suggested in his summary last week that the dedicarion of the gazebo be <br />held October 7, and asked if that date met with everyone's approval. He said he is thinking of <br />doing a light-up ceremony at night. He said he has been in contact with Mayfield High School <br />bands to talk about whether they will do a concert or stage band. Mayor Cannen said he expects to <br />serve donuts and cider. <br />Mayor Carmen and Council agreed that the Gazebo Dedication would begin at 8 p.m. Mayor <br />Cannen said he will provide Council with an update on the plans for the dedication. <br />Burgess & Niple Bob Brihtg 1- Upper 40 and Storm Water Mana ement - Mr. Bob Bright (in the <br />audience) said he sent a letter to the Village regarding the Upper 40 retenrion study. They have <br />completed 50-60% of the scope. Mr. Bright said he met with a couple of the residents at the site. <br />One of the factors that has held them up is that the capacity of the storm sewer system in the <br />Metroparks must be detertnined. They cannot go any further until they hear from the Metroparks. <br />Mayor Catmen said we were concerned because we had an esrimate of $45,000 to do the project <br />about a year ago and that no one laiew it was not being worked on. When he realized it, he <br />brought the issue up to Council. Mayor Carmen said a new ordinance was prepared to have them <br />go forward. It is his understanding that much of the work on the Upper 40 portion was bid <br />sepazately and some work was performed independently of the project.
