. 207 <br />Regular Council Meeting . <br />12/7/90 <br />Page 3 <br />Historical Societv - Mrs. Cinco reported that a Christmas pot luck dinner was held on December 12 <br />in the Gates Mills Community Room. She said that they received four 7" foot bookcases and <br />library volunteers will begin cataloging their books very soon. She said that she was hoping <br />Dorothy Buzek would be here to report that they had received a grant for their plans azound the <br />historical house. They are the only ones in Ohio to have received a grant. Mrs. Mills reported that <br />the award was done through the Exxon Corporation. It was in the amount of $500.00. <br />Photographs will be taken and a plaque will be presented on Arbor Day. They have applied for 4 <br />more awards for wildflower planting and beautification projects. Mrs. Buzek would like us to <br />thank the Mayfield School Horticultural Center and special thanks to Gus Amendola for all his <br />cooperation. Mrs. Mills asked Mr. Ramos to prepare a proclamation in honor of their award. <br />M.A.R.C. - Mrs. Cinco reported the committee met December 6 and held a very short meeting. <br />All their fall programs were very successful and they are in the process of getting ski and winter <br />programs going. There will be no meeting in January: they will meet in 7anuary to hold the <br />election of officers. <br />Planning and Zoning - Mr. Basile said the commission met December 3. Ordinance 90-47 was <br />placed on the workshop agenda. He said Mr. Ramos briefed them on that ordinance. Mr. Basile <br />said that Mr. Paris is proposing an addirional two-story building on the same parcel as the <br />Panzica/Arco building. Village Trails and Mr. Paris's proposed building will be on the workshop <br />agenda this month. " <br />Mr. Pietrafese reported that the citizen's advisory committee met and had their Christmas outing at <br />Milano's. The bill will be submitted to the Village for the party. <br />Recreation - Elliot Ross, Tom Derkacs, Terry Santoro and new member Pat And met November <br />27. They talked about the Debbie Hudacko scholarship fund. Mr. Patrick said the fund is opened <br />and the money deposited. He would like Council and the Recreation Committee to look at the <br />information he has prepared and then ask questions. He feels it is easier to answer these questions <br />as they come up rather than give a long report. Mr. Pietrafese said the lights at Brush High School <br />can not be used because there are no replacement parts for them. They are still waiting for the <br />check from Buckeye Promorions, and are also waiting for the check from Miceli for $1000.00. <br />Mr. Patrick requested that any time money is promised to be donated that the Finance Department <br />be advised so that they can send an invoice immediately. Mr. Pietrafese reported that the <br />Recreation Board made $2190.00 on the race for the Debbie Hudacko scholazship fund. Mr. <br />Pietrafese reported that over 240 people participated in the races between the 5-mile run and the 2- <br />mile walk. The Christmas party was held two Saturday's ago. Some residents had indicated they <br />had not been informed when the party would be held. Some people had not received the flyer. <br />Mayor Carmen said he felt they needed spiff up the parties a little bit. <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the committee met two weeks ago. Nothing came before the <br />committee; it was a short meeting. There will be no minutes. They received an update on the 18 <br />fire hydrants needing repair; 3 still need to be repaired. <br />Chief Mohr said he has been in touch with the Cleveland Water Department about the hydrants. <br />Sodium Light update: Chief Mohr said that they have literally forgotten us. <br />Mrs. Cinco said that the Fire Department will start its 3-year conversion process to 420 high <br />band.
