ItOLL CALL: AYES: None NAYS: All Motion Not Carried Ordinance Defeated Second Reading of Ordinance No. 90-47, entided; "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1153.02(g), OF TBE CODIFIIED ORDINANCES OF MAYFIELD VII,LAGE, OHIO, AS TO PROHIBTT INCINERATION, DUMPING AND STORAGE OF GARBAGE OR WASTE AND ItEPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 11/19/90) Mr. Ramos said this ordinance went to the Planning and Zoning Conunission for their study and it will go on third reading in January. He said we need to schedule a Public Hearing. Notice of the Public Hearing must be advertised in the newspaper at least 30 days prior to the hearing. He asked the Clerk of Council to schedule the Public Hearing for February 4. Mr. Ramos said the ordinance will be given third reading on February 18. NEW BUSINESS First Reading; of Ordinance No. 90-49, entitled; "AN ORDINANCE MAINTAINING WAGES, BENEFITS AND OTBER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES OF MAYFIELD VII.LAGE, OHIO, WHO ARE CALLED TO ACTIVE MII.TTARY SERVICE DURING THE MIDDLE EAST CRISIS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole. Mr. Ramos asked Council to see the amended copy. He said he added in the base salary in accordance to his conversarion with Mr. Patrick. , Mr. Flynn asked if this ordinance could remain on first reading because he thinks the Mayor and Finance Director need to get further information back to Council before it is enacted. Mayor Carrnen asked what type of informarion is needed. Mayor Carmen explained that the ordinance reflects the lrnowledge that these people are being paid less to serve in the military than by private employers. This ordinance is so benefits will be maintained and the employee will be paid at the same rate. Mr. Patrick explained how the employee will be paid. The Village will pay the difference between the wage normally paid by the private sector and the base pay the employee will be receiving so the employee will receive the same salary. He said a conservative number was used so that the employee will not owe us. In our case only one employee is affected by this. This is to make sure if he is activated he will receive the difference in pay and all benefits will be maintained.
