Introduced by Mayor <br />Carmen and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 11/19/90) <br />Mr. Ramos said this ordinance went to the Planning and Zoning Conunission for their study and it <br />will go on third reading in January. He said we need to schedule a Public Hearing. Notice of the <br />Public Hearing must be advertised in the newspaper at least 30 days prior to the hearing. He asked <br />the Clerk of Council to schedule the Public Hearing for February 4. Mr. Ramos said the ordinance <br />will be given third reading on February 18. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />First Reading; of Ordinance No. 90-49, entitled; "AN ORDINANCE MAINTAINING WAGES, <br />BENEFITS AND OTBER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR FULL-TIME <br />EMPLOYEES OF MAYFIELD VII.LAGE, OHIO, WHO ARE CALLED TO ACTIVE MII.TTARY <br />SERVICE DURING THE MIDDLE EAST CRISIS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES <br />INCONSISTENT HEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor <br />Carmen and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Ramos asked Council to see the amended copy. He said he added in the base salary in <br />accordance to his conversarion with Mr. Patrick. , <br />Mr. Flynn asked if this ordinance could remain on first reading because he thinks the Mayor and <br />Finance Director need to get further information back to Council before it is enacted. <br />Mayor Carrnen asked what type of informarion is needed. <br />Mayor Carmen explained that the ordinance reflects the lrnowledge that these people are being paid <br />less to serve in the military than by private employers. This ordinance is so benefits will be <br />maintained and the employee will be paid at the same rate. <br />Mr. Patrick explained how the employee will be paid. The Village will pay the difference between <br />the wage normally paid by the private sector and the base pay the employee will be receiving so the <br />employee will receive the same salary. He said a conservative number was used so that the <br />employee will not owe us. In our case only one employee is affected by this. This is to make sure <br />if he is activated he will receive the difference in pay and all benefits will be maintained. <br /> <br /> <br />
