6 0
• Regular Council Meeting
4/17/89
Page 2
Mayor Carmen said he wanted to discuss seeking an injunction against theNortheast Ohio Regional Sewer District before filing the suit.
Mr. Petschauer asked if we could introduce legislation about polluting the
Village--that the Village would be able to cite a dollar amount that would
be charged to whoever polluted the Village.
Mayor Carmen asked Mr. Ramos to look into-that.
Mayor Carmen explained the process of filing a lawsuit and a preliminary
injunction. He said that we should hire someone to testify on our behalf.
?
Mr. Petschauer asked if we have polled other communities to see if they
want to get involved in the lawsuit.
Mayor Carmen said that that was a good idea and asked Mr. Ramos to call
Mayor Collister of Gates Mills.
Mr. Flynn suggested we check with the City of Eastlake also.
Mr. Petschauer said that he had spoken to an individual from a television
station who expressed interest in coming out to cover a demonstration
regarding this problem. He said he felt this would raise cognizance about ?
the problem. He asked for Council's feelings.
Mr. Rinker said he thinks we will be raising cognizance by filing suit.
Mr. Petschauer said he feels we should do whatever we can to put pressure
on them to act.
Mr. Atnendola asked if it might be possible for us to ask the County if
their system could be tied into the police department board so someone in
the Village would be aware when problems occur.
Mayor Carmen said he thinks residents should also consider filing a
private lawsuit against the Sewer District.
A lengthy discussion was held. ,
('.l1NGTi1F.RATT(1N (1F MTNTTTFG r
Regular Meeting of Council - March 20, 1989 - Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr.
Rinker, made a motion to approve the minutes.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Minutes Approved
Special Meeting of.
