Regular Council Meeting
4/17/89
Page 4

Mr. Plastine said that they have hired con tracto rs in the Mayfield area to
perform the work completed to date and that they will continue to use
contractors from the area. He said that there will be clean up week on
Tuesday and Thursday and during the last week of April there Wi11 be an
Arbor Day ceremony at the site and that there will be a.meeting in the
house.
Mr. Basile said he would like to amend the agenda to include the Citizen's
Advisory Committee.
There were no objections.
Citizen's Advisory Committee - Mr. Basile said the committee met March 27.
Discussion was held on the Aintree North drainage problem.
Mayor Carmen said that Burgess and Niple will be submitting an estimate
for the actual required work that needs to be done. After that they will
know better whether or not the problems will be resolved. He said they
appear to be making more headway and would like to avoid the cost of
litigation if possible. Mayor Carmen said that the work will be done this
year one way or another.
Mr. Basile noted other topics discussed by the Citizen's Advisory
Committee (see 3/27/89 CAC minutes).
M.A.R.C. - Mr. Rinker reported the number of individuals from each
municipality that had signed up for the athletic facility passes--as
follows: Highland Heights - 1,500, Mayfield Heights - 4,300, Gates Mills
- over 500, and Mayfield Village - 870. He said that an average of 450
persons per night have visited the facility and gave their tentative
summer hours.
Mayor Carmen suggested the following'items be relayed to M.A.R.C.:
1) Although the cost for passes was nominal, people had been told
there would be no cost to use the facility and he thinks it was silly to
charge for that.
2) More troublesome, we have made inquiries as to whether our
safety forces could use the facility.
Mrs. Cinco said that she had appealed to them regarding use of the
facility by our safety forces (and by the safety forces of the other 3
municipalities in the school district). She said that they are working on
a solution which will be presented at the next meeting.
Mr. Rinker said that they had asked us to wait six months to see what
happens.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Basile said that Mr. Amendola will have
alot of information prepared for the next meeting.
Planning and Zoning - Mr. Basile said the commission met April 3. (see
4/3/89 P&Z minutes.)
