<br />Regular Council Meeting <br />5/15/89 <br />Page 2 <br />COMMENTS FROM MAYOR CARMEN <br />Mayor Carmen said that he wanted to thank Council and Department Heads <br />and everyone who came out to make the Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast a <br />success this year. Between 800-900 people were served and each year it <br />gets bigger. <br />Mayor Carmen said that one Police Sergeant position became vacant <br />due to the retirement of Sergeant Charles Litman. He said that a Civil <br />Service examination was conducted. Mayor Carmen said that he was <br />presented a list of three eligible candidates. From that list, he <br />chose Detective Patrolman David Liggett to fill the Police Sergeant <br />position. <br />Mayor Carmen administered the oath of office to David M. Liggett as <br />Police Sergeant. Everyone expressed their congratulations to Dave. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BASILE <br />Mr. Basile said that he would like to thank Jeff Shibley from Yours <br />Truly Restaurant for his assistance (cooking) at the Pancake Breakfast, <br />and thanks to everyone else who assisted. <br />Mr. Basile said that a Hillcrest Neighbors meeting will be held at St. <br />Paschal Church at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mr. Basile said that he was asked to ask Mayor Carmen when the Fair <br />Housing Committee meeting could be rescheduled. I <br />Mayor Carmen said that if it was o.k. with the Chairman and the rest of <br />Council, he would like to suggest that the Fair Housing Committee be <br />added to the agenda under the "Standing Committee Reports". There were <br />no objections. Mayor Carmen suggested that the Fair Housing Committee <br />meeting be held on May 24 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone agreed. <br />Mr. Basile said that he had received information about a"Drug Watch <br />Program" which he felt should be publicized. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Chief Mohr reported that the Fire Department will be flushing hydrants <br />starting next week. They will place signs on the roads affected the <br />day before they will be doing that. <br />Mr. Ramos said that at the appropriate time the resolution regarding <br />the High School Hall of Fame will have to be amended. <br /> <br /> <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Amendola said that 2 decks, 2 <br />accessory buildings, 2 single-family dwellings, a dog run, a sign, and <br />3 sign permits were considered at the last meeting.
