Regular Council Meeting 8/21/89 Page 18 First Reading of Resolution No. 89-60, entitled; "A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT BY THE MAYOR, SETTING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF COMPENSATION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole. Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Rinker, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. Roll Call: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Rules Suspended Mr. Rinker, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 89-60. Mr. Flynn asked if the monetary rate for the landscape architect included in the ordinance was a standard rate. Mr. Rinker said it was and that everyone should be advised the architect will be on hand to check out landscaping. Roll Call: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Resolution Adopted First Reading of Ordinance No. 89-34, entitled; "AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE COMPENSATION OF THE COUNCIL, SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE FOR APPROVAL, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECESSARY PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council members Basile, Cinco, Flynn, Mills, Rinker, and Santoro. Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Rinker, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. Roll Call: AYES: Al1 NAYS: None Motion Carried Rules Suspended Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 89-34. Mr. Ramos said that this ordinance must be submitted to the Board of Elections by Wednesday. It was agreed that the legislation regarding the salaries of Council and the Council President should be introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council members Basile, Cinco, Flynn, Mills, Rinker, and Santoro.
