? 77 <br />Regul'ar Council Meeting <br />10/16/89 <br />Page 3 <br />Planning and Zoning - Mr. Basile said the Commission met but that <br />Wheezer's has not obtained what they need from Jefferson. <br />Recreation - Mr. Petschauer said the Board met September 20. The <br />financial report as of the end of August was $9,747. Softball winners <br />were Gus Gallucci and Ken's Auto Body. The annual 5 Mile Race will be <br />held this Sunday. The annual Halloween Party Wiii be held October 28 <br />at the Activity Center. <br />Safet_y and Service - Mrs. Mills said the Committee met October 22. <br />They discussed the police/fire radio bidding process and have no <br />concern about how bidding was done. They also discussed snow plowing. <br />Mr. Amendola gave them a list of what would be done to facilitate <br />better service this year. The fire truck should be here about the 17th <br />of October. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Beech Hill Pump Station - Mr. Ramos said there will be a pre-trail this <br />Thursday and another on November 20. Council will be receiving a <br />proposal from the NEORSD about trying to resolve this matter. Mr. <br />Ramos said that he received an original proposal Thursday and they <br />discussed another kind of resolution. Mr. Ramos said he would rather <br />explain this to Council through a letter than to dicsuss now. <br />Mr. Flynn read a portion of an article from a Pipeline publication <br />regarding the Hilltop Interceptor. <br />Haffe_y Litigation - Mayor Carmen said that the insurance company <br />offered a sum of money to Mr. Haffey and that it the case was settled. <br />Fisher's Tavern - Mr. Ramos said he has not heard anything on this. <br />Mr. Basile asked if he could write a letter to him. <br />Mr. Ramos said he would prefer .to ask Dale Feneli to handle this; he <br />will contact Mr. Feneli. <br />Recycling - Mrs. Cinco said she thinks Council should consider going <br />ahead with the recycing plan. It takes a few month lead time before <br />the program can begin. She would like to have legislation prepared for <br />the November meeting. <br />Mayor Carmen said that Village officials have been exploring recycling. <br />A Committee was formed to determine whether or not Mayfield Village <br />should begin a program and to review the costs and benefits of such a <br />program. He said that Waste Mangement explained their curbside <br />recycling program at the last Council Caucus. He and Council were <br />impressed by the presentation made. The proposal required the sorting <br />of glass, paper, and aluminum cans to be plaeed in a separate container <br />for pick-up by Waste Management. There will be a cost to the Village. <br />Mayor Carmen said he thinks legislation will be passed in November. He <br />said that we received many positive replies from the questionnaire <br />included in the last issue of the Voice of the Village.
