156 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />9/21/92 <br />Page Six <br />. <br />Police Denartment Updates:.There were no items for discussion. <br />General: <br />Emergenc y HunMr Center - Mr. Rinker said Carol Robinson from the Emergency Hunger Center <br />was in the audience and asked Ms. Robinson to give a brief outline of the goals and specifics of the <br />project. <br />Ms. Robinson said their goal is to help needy families. They seek donations of cash and non- <br />perishable items. They aze currendy looking for a place for a distribution center in this area. They <br />came to Mayfield Village with the hopes of buying a vehicle, but the next best thing would be to <br />have a local distribution center. Ms. Robinson said there is such a demand in this azea. The <br />Emergency Hunger Center is a non-profit charitable organization that started March 16, 1992. <br />Their goal is to find a place for distribution and will have a place by October. <br />Second Reading of Ordinance No. 92-26, entided; "An emergency ordinance amending Section <br />971.06 of the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village relating to false alarms and civil penalties <br />therefore." Introduced by Mayor Pietrafese and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 7/20/92) <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />First Reading of Resolurion No. 92-38, entitled; "An emergency resolution amending Resolution <br />No. 90-71, including Star Ohio as an additional depository for interim funds of Mayfield Village." <br />Introduced by Mayor Pietrafese and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Toth said the Star Ohio program is the State Treasurer's investment program which offers a <br />good deal of return especially in times of falling interest rates. Combined with Resolution No. <br />92-36, this will enhance the investment potenrial for Mayfield Village. Mr. Toth recommends <br />Resolutions No. 92-36 and 92-38 be passed. He said this is a goai alternative investment. <br />Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a motion to suspend the rules of Cmuncil requiring a <br />resolution to be read on three separate occasions. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Morion Carried <br />ltules Suspended <br />Mr. Fixler, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 92-38. <br />IZOLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Cairied <br />Resolution Adopted <br />Panzica - Request for Variance for use of Don Ray Building - Mr. Basile said the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission voted against granring a variance to Mr. Panzica. <br />Mr. Panzica (in the audience), said since Don Ray moved, Fish Furniture has been operating under <br />the same use and is asking to conrinue.
