ISO
Public Hearing
11/16/92
Page Four
Mr. Hill said if there is current development there and let's say it is non-residential, in all likelihood
it would be considered a legal non-conforming use which means it could continue in its present
condition but not expand or change.
The man in the audience said he lives at 470 S.O.M. Center Road and he is asking because the
property in back of his home and to the north of his home has been sold.
Mr. Hill said any use within that azea that is considered a legal use would continue.
A man in the audience said his concern would be that he feels the Village already is lacldng enough
available general purpose recreation land and in his neighborhood most of the people moving in are
young families, is that being considered as far as available land in the commuauty for recreation?
Mr. Rinker said it relates to what they are talldng about as far as the rezoning but these are really
two different matters. Your concern for expanded recrearion facilities is being addressed in the
comprehensive plan.
The man asked if Mr. Hill felt we were lacking as far as recreation.
Mr. Hill said the thing that is very interesting--if you look at the amount of public recreation land
within Mayfield Village, you have more than in most cornmuniries. You are fortunate in the
respect that you have a very large portion of Metro Park within the corporate limits. That serves a
very good function, however, he thinks there is no quesrion there is a very definite need for
expanded playground and recreation field acrivities. Those are related to criteria established by the
Recreation Association. That will be addressed in detail and recommendations will be made in
terms of additional acrive recreational facilities.
A man asked of the approximate 200 acres, how many acres have existing businesses on them that
could be grandfathered?
Mr. Hill said he thinks there are only two of much signif'icance in the major portion of the study
azea. One is an industrial or semi-industrial activity. To the best of his knowledge, that is vacant
at this present time. Then, there is one other activity in the area and he is not sure what that is. He
thinks he saw stagecoaches and something of that nature. He thinks by in lazge the area in itself is
relatively clean.
Mr. Friedman passed out correspondence to Mayor, Council and the Law Director from Maysom
Limited Partnership and read it aloud. A copy of the correspondence will attached to the nunutes
as a permanent record. Mr. Friedman said he is here on behaif of Maysom Limited Partnership (he
as the owner of the land referred to as the "Schulz property"); and he is also here on behalf of
Clarkwood Properties which, as a parmer, they control 160 or so (plus or minus) of the acreage
refened to by Mr. Hill.
