197
Regular Council Meeting
11/16/92
Page Five
DEPAl2TMENT HEAD REPORTS (continued):
Mr. Toth thanked Mayor Pietrafese and Council for their recognition, support, and confidence for
the work he performed in Mayfield Village. Mr. Toth said as he has indicated, his performance for
the position of Finance Director will soon be ending. He said it has been a pleasure to work with
everybocly; the teamwork with the Department Heads was gready appreciated. Mr. Toth said he
does not think he would have been able to complete as much as he did complete without the
assistance and support that he has had from the staff upstairs in the Finance DepartmenL The
women who work upstairs do an excellent job keeping the day-to-day operations going. They did
it through the month of February on their own and in many instances when it was diff'icult for him
to perform his duties here, they kept things going very well. Mr. Toth said they started out the
beginning of year posring the sick time balances on everybody's paychecks. He thanked the Law
Director for a very well written opinion which Cheryl Garinger, the Finance Clerk, took the bulk
of the wcnk of calculating and looking over everybody's sick time balance and inputted it on her
own. She deserves a lot of credit and recognition for taking on that task. Mr. Toth said he would
like to thank Susan Harrison for a lot of the work that she has done. During the past three or four
weeks Mr. Toth said he has been coming in early mornings, sitring down going over information,
spending, just a litde bit of time giving her instructions. Mr. Toth said when a11 he needed to do
was to glve a little bit of an explanation, he got 110% back from her. Mr. Toth said those girls
really do, deserve a lot of recognition and he needed to state that here to Council and the Mayor.
Mr. Toth said he would like to recognize Donna also. Many times there were certain things where
nobody lcnew where to go or where to get certain pieces of informarion and she seems to be the
backbone of this Village. Mr. Toth said that is what he has to say and it is with great regret, but he
has enjoyed working here and with all of you.
Mr. Rinlcer said they appreciated his work and his recent work on the pro forma is probably the
best exalnple yet of the hard work that Steve put in.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
There were no reports for Architectural Review Board of Board of Appeals.
Cemetery - Mr. Basile reported they met on October 22 and went over bids for repairing
headstories but it is too late to have them repaired this yeaz. He hopes to have the dead trees taken
down this year. They recommended that the administration of the cemetery be taken care of by the
Historical Society.
Citizen's Advisory - Mr. Fixler said they met October 26. All of the points that had been
mentioned in "old business" such as the dual-dual highway, landscaping problems with
Progres:;ive, etc. have been answered very well by Gus and Lt. Jay. The only new business that
was mentioned was about some lazge holes in a section of Sandalwood that have not been
replacedl. Gus said he would address that with some patching.
Commission on Aging - Mr. Busa reported that 178 people received flu shots this year. The
Annual Christmas Party is December 5. Cards and crafts conrinue to meet.
