2 ~ ~. <br />Page 6 <br />Mr. Bennett commented that the fees as listed in the ordinance <br />are considerably low comp~r.ed to the fact that a $42,000 piece <br />of equipment would be used. <br />Mr. Carmen stated that the reason for keeping the old ambulance <br />was for mutual aid service to Gates Mills and in that case the <br />rates might not be out of line: <br />Discussion was held on the possibility of a liability matter <br />arising due to the old ambulance being used. <br />Mayor Beebe questioned why Gates Mills is not required by law to <br />be equipped with a regulation vehicle as the Village apparently <br />had to be. <br />Chief Hejcl replied he wasn't sure unless it was because they <br />hadn't been reported. <br />Mr". Carmen suggested further study be done re our liability before <br />a vote be taken. <br />Mr. Flynn stated that in the 15 years of service as a fireman, <br />the question of the use of a first or secondary unit was never <br />raised.. <br />Miss Trask commented she didn't see a need to delay the passage of <br />the ordinance since there would be time to review the liability <br />matter before July lst. <br />Mr. Flynn suggestedaa call be made to Mayfield Heights' attorney <br />since they've had such a contract for 5 years. <br />Mr. Flynn, seconded by Miss Trask, made a motion to suspend the <br />rules of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate <br />occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Rules suspended <br />Miss ~ Trask, ~ seconded ~b~- Ni'r"".' Flynn, made a motion to pass Ordinance <br />80-36. <br />Roll Call: AYES: .All <br />NAYS: None <br />GENERAL COMMENTS: <br />Motion Carried <br />_ Ordinance Passed <br />( . _ ~ , ,. <br />Mrs. FitzGerald commented that~Gates Mills did respond to a fire <br />that started at the Beech.Hill Pumping Station. about 19 years ago. <br />If she recalls ~orrectly,;Mayfield Village didn't have up-dated <br />equipment until about three years ago. <br />Mr, Bennett said he didn't recall the fire starting in Mayfield <br />Village. <br />
