2 ~ ~. Page 6 Mr. Bennett commented that the fees as listed in the ordinance are considerably low comp~r.ed to the fact that a $42,000 piece of equipment would be used. Mr. Carmen stated that the reason for keeping the old ambulance was for mutual aid service to Gates Mills and in that case the rates might not be out of line: Discussion was held on the possibility of a liability matter arising due to the old ambulance being used. Mayor Beebe questioned why Gates Mills is not required by law to be equipped with a regulation vehicle as the Village apparently had to be. Chief Hejcl replied he wasn't sure unless it was because they hadn't been reported. Mr". Carmen suggested further study be done re our liability before a vote be taken. Mr. Flynn stated that in the 15 years of service as a fireman, the question of the use of a first or secondary unit was never raised.. Miss Trask commented she didn't see a need to delay the passage of the ordinance since there would be time to review the liability matter before July lst. Mr. Flynn suggestedaa call be made to Mayfield Heights' attorney since they've had such a contract for 5 years. Mr. Flynn, seconded by Miss Trask, made a motion to suspend the rules of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. Mrs. FitzGerald commented that~Gates Mills did respond to a fire that started at the Beech.Hill Pumping Station. about 19 years ago. If she recalls ~orrectly,;Mayfield Village didn't have up-dated equipment until about three years ago. Mr, Bennett said he didn't recall the fire starting in Mayfield Village.
