'~' ~.. Mayor Beebe stated the Chief of Police will no`s proceed with a mailing to the residents. Several companies have already been in contact with the Chief. Beta Sidewalks - Mr. Hovancsek stated that the project has already started with the private contracts. Council should be awarding the remaining portion to the low bidder, Calabrese Cement Company. Because of the private contracts, the performance bond will be less than stated in the specs. Mr. Bennett questioned if the 30 day time limit has expired. Mr. Hovancsek replied it would be up in a few days and in order to hold the bid it would be wise to award the contract this evening effective 30 days from the bid due date. Most of the private contracts were with Calabrese. Mr. Bennett stated that since the contractor is already on the site it would be wise to proceed and pass the legislation in title only with the Law Department to prepare the o?~dinance. Ordinance 80-39, entitled: "AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS ON BETA DRIVE TO ALDO CALABRESE CEMENT COMPANY; AND DECLARING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID:" Introduced by Council as a Whole. Mr. Carmen, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made a motion to suspend the rules of law requiring an~~ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. Roll Call: AYES: •All 'NAYS' None Motion Carried, Rules Suspended Council agreed that this work is not to exceed $49,397.00. Nlr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Carmen, made a motion to pass Ordinance 80:39. Roll Call: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Ordinance Passed Police Levy Renewal - Mr. Flynn stated this should be passed in July; Mr. Fdneli to prepare the rough draft for review at th,e next caucus. NEW BUSINESS Mr. Bennett stated a letter of resignation from Mr. Boger had been received. He questioned the Law Director regarding the~`30 day time limit for the appointment of a replacement.
