Regular Council Meeting
2-17-97
Page 4
Mr. Brett said there has been some question regarding restoration of the bike path. He asked if
they have a schedule for that.
Mr. Hovancsek said the main line should be done this month. All the sewer connections will be
done by April 1'. The bike path itself and all the seeding will be restored prior to June ls`
Mayor Rinker asked whether we should review anything with the construction of the bike path
to improve on its safety. He asked if we should give any thought to redesigning it in any way-
especially when the section by Sandalwood is done.
Mr. Hovancsek said our problem with the northem portion is that the bike path is 10' wide; it is
just off the right ofway by a matter of inches and there is only 34' between the bike path and
the edge of the road. The State requirements don't allow you to put up any kind of a physical
barrier. That is why we put up some plastic delineators. Since it is federally funded it had to be
10' wide and not 5' wide like the southern portion. They have more flexibility with the southern
portion; perhaps they can do some reconfiguration that would make it better.
Mayor Rinker said he wants to make sure we check out everything possible before we are
committed to returning the path to status quo. He would like some feedback on this.
Mr. Hovancsek said he will check with the Law Director to see what they can come up with.
Mr. Busa said he has received several complaints from residents on White and SO1Vi Center
roads that the open cut is sinking.
Mr. Hovancsek will look into it.
Worton Park - Update - Mr. Cappello said this spring Marra's restoration work will be done and
the contractor who did the ditch work will come back. Worton Park is slated to be resurfaced as
part of the 1997 resurfacing proj ect.
Mr. Samac said tie-ins are 80-85% complete.
Mayor Rinker said Marra did a real nice job but a lot of yards have ruts.
Mr. Brett said by November we need to certify to the EPA that the system is functioning.
Third Reading of Ordinance No. 96-47, entitled; "An emergency ordinance approving the
editing and inclusion of certain ordinances as parts of the various component codes of the
Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a
Whole. (First Reading 12/16/96; Second Reading 1/27/97.)
Mr. Busa, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 9647.
