Regular Council Meeting
3-17-97
Page 9
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there was a meeting of the Landscaping
Committee recently.
OLD BUSINESS
North Cmunty I,ine -Update - Mr. Cappello said the contractor has put in the catch basins
connections along the bike path on SOM and has completed connections past Highland and still
has to head north. They are plannuig to do restoration work on White Road in about 3 weeks.
They have not updated their schedule, so the bike path should be restored by the end of June.
Mrs. Cinco said a lot of people will be asking about the bike path restoration so he will be asked
every Caucus and Council meeting. It might be a good idea to inform the contractor that Council
will be on his back about that.
Second Reading of Ordinance No. 97-09, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing the
exercise of an option to purchase the Parkview Golf Course." Introduced by Miayor Rinker and
Council as a Whole. (First Reading 2-17-97)_
OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state
their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under
"Old Business" only.
There were no comments.
NEVV BITSINESS
Assisted Living Presentation - The gentleman in the audience said they were not aware Council
was expecting a presentation. The Finance Director and Mayor asked them to come out this
evening to answer any questions Council might have pertaining to the assisted living facility that -is
proposing to purchase some of the golf course property. [He said he had sent out a number of
renderings a week ago and asked if everyone had seen them.] Primarily, this proposal is from an
assisted living developer from New 1Vlexico who is in the business of operating assisted living
facilities around the country. To date, they have somewhere in the hundred range of facilities.
They have targeted 12 cities around the country they want to expand. Cleveland is one of those
cities. Land is very difficult to come by in Cuyahoga County for facilities of this nature as well as
multi-family development. They have on the table an offer of $250,000 per acre for the acquisition
of three acres. They typically build a facility with about 89 assisted living units within it. That is
their standard facility that sits on about 21/z or 3 acres. I-f the city would like to see a facility that
has an additional green area around it they would have no problem in purchasing 4 or 5 acres at
that price if the city could give them some type of commitment that they could proceed on that
development. He asked if there were any questions.
