Regular Council Meeting
7-17-00
Page 3
COIVIlVlENTS FROM::MAYOR RINKER
Mayor Rinker was not present.
COMMENTS FROM°COiJNCII.:`PRESIDENI' MARQUARDT.
Council President Marquardt had no comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Lt. Girbino expressed thanks on behalf of the Fire department to Mayor Rinker and
Council for allowing them to assign the part-timer to the duty crew, bringing their total
response crew to 4. They are in the 3~ week of doing that and it is working out pretty
well. The majority of shifts are being covered by part-timers but some overtime has
been incurred. We may consider hiring some additional part-time firefighters and we
are considering this sort of a stop gap, temporary patch measure in lieu of hiring some
additional full-time firefighters down the road. So far, we are getting there and we
appreciate it.
Mr. Thomas said Parkview Pool held its first swim meet. We had 21 teams
participating. We got our coed sand volleyball league off the ground at Wiley Park and
our first Cedar Point excursion. The Fourth of July celebration went well; fireworks
were good. There were 234 runners in the Debbie Hudacko race. There were 1871ast
year. Also, we had our Whitewater Rafting trip.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said they are taking a summer break. They considered one application
for a variance for the height of a fence. The matter was tabled because the applicant
was unable to attend the meeting. It will be taken up at tomorrow night's meeting.
Cemetery -Mrs. Mills said the Garden Club has approved $200 for some shelving in the
crypts to store tools.
