Regular Council Meeting <br />7-17-00 <br />Page 3 <br />COIVIlVlENTS FROM::MAYOR RINKER <br />Mayor Rinker was not present. <br />COMMENTS FROM°COiJNCII.:`PRESIDENI' MARQUARDT. <br />Council President Marquardt had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Lt. Girbino expressed thanks on behalf of the Fire department to Mayor Rinker and <br />Council for allowing them to assign the part-timer to the duty crew, bringing their total <br />response crew to 4. They are in the 3~ week of doing that and it is working out pretty <br />well. The majority of shifts are being covered by part-timers but some overtime has <br />been incurred. We may consider hiring some additional part-time firefighters and we <br />are considering this sort of a stop gap, temporary patch measure in lieu of hiring some <br />additional full-time firefighters down the road. So far, we are getting there and we <br />appreciate it. <br />Mr. Thomas said Parkview Pool held its first swim meet. We had 21 teams <br />participating. We got our coed sand volleyball league off the ground at Wiley Park and <br />our first Cedar Point excursion. The Fourth of July celebration went well; fireworks <br />were good. There were 234 runners in the Debbie Hudacko race. There were 1871ast <br />year. Also, we had our Whitewater Rafting trip. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said they are taking a summer break. The summer <br />events are over and there are no activities scheduled until the Holiday Tree Lighting <br />except for the concerts in the Gazebo every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said there was no meeting since the last <br />Council Meeting. <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said they met June 20. They considered one application <br />for a variance for the height of a fence. The matter was tabled because the applicant <br />was unable to attend the meeting. It will be taken up at tomorrow night's meeting. <br />Cemetery -Mrs. Mills said the Garden Club has approved $200 for some shelving in the <br />crypts to store tools. They hope to have a meeting within the next 2 weeks with the <br />other communities. <br />
