Regular Council Meeting Minutes
8-21-00
Page 4
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Cable Review Committee
Mr. Ilacqua asked Mr. Diemert to report.
Mr. Diemert said the agreement was agreed upon verbally but we have not received the
draft from Cablevision yet. They have been busy with Adelphia transition and we
should have it shortly. Mr. Diemert confirmed the draft will be forwarded to the
Committee first, then if the Committee is okay with it, it will be forwarded to Council.
Wage Review Committee
Dr. Parker said there was no report.
S.O.M. Center Road Widening Working Committee
Mr. Ilacqua said he would like to note a change in the memo he circulated. He said that
he mis-numbered the options, so as you read the memo and the minutes--the numbers
are inaccurate. (Option 2 is actually Option 3 and Option 3 is actually Option 2.) Mr.
Ilacqua said it is important to note that the Committee and various Department Heads
are a uniform voice in feeling there is potential to put a median on S.O.M. north of
Highland Road rt~nn;ng to White. Where, exactly, that median is going to be placed is
yet to be decided. Uniformly, we feel there is room at some point north of Hickory Hill
up to the Church Drive. With the recommendation of Option 2, it allows for a potential
to be designed and implemented probably between Highland and Metro Park with the
exclusion of it between Metro Park and Hickory Hill. He encouraged everyone to read
the minutes of the meeting. Anew map was prepared incorporating the Committee's
recommendation into it. He would be happy to answer any questions or discuss it
further. Council can wait to vote on it until our September meeting.
Dr. Parker asked if putting in the median would widen the road at all--or would it just
replace the pavement area.
Mr. Ilacqua said yes; instead of a 12' wide paved middle lane, there would be a 12'
median.
Dr. Parker said there would be no turning lane except where the median broke.
Mr. Ilacqua said correct. The median itself from a cost basis costs a few dollars less per
linear foot than the concrete road.
