Regular Council Meeting
9-15-08
Page 3
BUILDING - John Marrelli
Mr. Marrelli reported that there were no reports of any building damage.
ENGINEERING - Tom Cappello
Updating on the Raleigh and Seneca projects Mr. Cappello stated that as everyone can see the
actual road construction on Raleigh Road is completed although it is not open yet. They are
working on traffic control now. They will be coordinating this with Chief Dearden. The water
main connections on Seneca Road are complete. Council President Buckholtz asked if the road
has to be rededicated when it is moved like that. Mr. Cappello said they do not because we own
the property. We would probably make that one consolidated road right away. Mrs. Cinco asked
about the chip and seal. Mr. Cappello reported that they have done all the preliminary work and
are in the process right now. They should be starting it on Wednesday, weather permitting.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Joe Diemert
There was nothing to report, but what we will talk about in Executive Session.
FIRE - Lieutenant Girbino
Lieutenant Girbino reported that the Village weathered the storm fairly well. There was nothing
out of the ordinary as far as what they responded to. They received five CPR mannequins as a
donation from a company on Beta Drive today called Preston Products. They manufacture them.
FINANCE - Philiu Brett
There was nothing to report.
POLICE - Chief Dearden
There was nothing to report.
PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas
Mr. Thomas reported that Mayfield Village, Mayfield Heights and Mayfield Schools met to plan
for the Sixth Annual Teen Halloween event which will be held on Thursday, October 16th. Last
year, 450 students participated. They are looking forward to holding this again. NEOTA Day is
October 17th, so that is why they are doing it on Thursday night. The annual Polar Express is
scheduled for Wednesday, November 19th and 20ffi. They reserved coaches through the
Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Registration starts Wednesday for residents and Thursday for
school district residents. Non-residents can sign up on Monday the 22nd if tickets are still
available. Our Third Annual Village golf outing is this Friday.
