On the other hand, they have a
trip October 13th to Middlefield Amish Country. They already have a waiting list. If they get
enough people, they will take a bigger bus, but the transportation costs just make it too
prohibitive to go ahead with it when we don't have enough people signed up. They are getting
ready for flu shots. Registration is this Friday here from 9-11 and next Monday from 1-3. The
shots will be given on Wednesday, October 22°d from 1-3.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that a meeting is scheduled for October 29tn
Architectural 12eview Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that Architectural Review Board met on
the 4t and finalized the proposal for University Hospital's Georgian Center office building.
Beautification- Mr. Saponaro reported that the Beautification Committee met on August 25tn
They went over the hanging baskets and containers for 2008. Everything went well and
everyone is pleased with a few tweaks here and there. There was an area set up by the Stabile
and Hejcl property with a bench. Service did a wonderful job. The Committee is looking at that
and talking to the people about purchasing and personalizing benches for memoriam or with the
name of their family and finding locations along the trails. The trees were planted along the 271
corridor. They are now looking at the next phase which is wildflowers. They are working with a
gentleman from Ohio Prairie who is going to help with the different choices of flowers along
those areas so that they are not eaten by deer and can withstand the weather. It's a lot more
complicated than one would think. They have scheduled a Fall Bulb Planting for October 4th at
10:00 at Wiley Park. Everyone is welcome. Community service hours will be available for
anyone who needs it for school or different organizations. They will be planting around the
pavilion, around the area by the east side of the wall by the Hej cl/Stabile property. Anyone who
would like to participate is welcome. Hopefully everyone received the flyer in the mail. We are
looking to become Tree City USA, which is a program we want to participate in. We are in the
process of completing the application. One of the things the Committee talked about bringing up
to Council was trash receptacles being placed along the various corridors and trails so that people
put their garbage where garbage belongs. Stay tuned. Someone from the Committee has taken
on the project of obtaining prices and styles. Our next meeting is September 22°d at 7:00 p.m.
We received our bid from Eagle Creek who did our flowers last year. The cost is $7,055.00. We
will be discussing that. The cost is less than last year because we already paid for the containers
and liners. We will talk about that. They did an excellent job and were wonderful to work with.
