Regular Council Meeting
9-15-08
Page 5
Hopefully this season was a lot easier for poug because we tried to put something within the soil
itself to make watering not be a daily occurrence.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli reported that there was no meeting. There is no report.
Cemetery - Mrs. Mills reported that they had one of their old time residents, Martha Williams,
pass away. She lived on Miner Road in Highland Heights. She was buried at Union Cemetery
with the assistance of Mr. Metzung and the Service Department. Mrs. Mills thanked them for all
of their work. It is not an easy thing because of the size of the cemetery lots. They are so much
smaller than what is required now for burials. It went very well. Mr. Metzung added thanks to
Whitehaven Cemetery for sending one of their gentlemen to help them mark the area and direct
them.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Marrie reported that they do not meet during the summer. Their
first meeting will be tomorrow night at Civic Hall.
Commission on Agin? - Mrs. Kalina reported that there is a meeting scheduled tomorrow.
They will discuss Halloween and holiday parties.
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mgt. - Mrs. Cinco reported that there was no report.
Mrs. Cinco deferred to Mr. Metzung on the projects that were completed for the year. Mr.
Metzung said they are on the last one. Mrs. Cinco stated we are further ahead this year than
other years. -
Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco reported that Safety and Service met on Tuesday, September
2" . At that time, they discussed oil and gas wells. They decided they are not going to duplicate
items they have with Finance. They will do a joint meeting. They talked about the Technical
Services Support Agreement for the Fire Department. That is on the agenda tonight. They also
received a lengthy police station update.
Finance Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that the Finance Committee met this evening. They
had 17 items on the agenda. The language in item 15 needs to be amended to read a motion
authorizing expenditure not to exceed $15,000.00 to Van Ness Stone for the purchase of stone
pavers for the patio adjacent to Heinen's. All items on the agenda were approved. Council
President Buckholtz clarified that that is Mayfield Village property adjacent to Heinen's. Mrs.
Mills said that is correct. Mr. Marrelli will explain this when we get to that item.
Historical Society - Mrs. Mills reported that the Historical Society had a very successful ice
cream social. The weather cooperated. The ladies baked some delicious cookies. Our next event
will be in October, the Quilt Show which will go October 10, 11 and 12. You have a chance to
attend that and get some more homemade cookies.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Council President Buckholtz reported that Hillcrest Council of
Councils met last Saturday morning.
