Regular Council Minutes
3-15-04
Page 5
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mayor Rinker said I have asked Donna to mark this down: A
question came up recently from the Metroparks where we really haven't had a chance to talk for
quite some time. As you know, our Issue Two applications have been stymied at Eastgate and
Meadowood but given all the changes on S.O.M., I think the question has arisen again to look at
Metro Park. This is something we had talked about last with residents in that area I think when
we did the North County Trunk Line. So we are going to look to sometime in April for a meeting
where we will send out a flyer to residents on Metro Park and Zorn. We will probably send the
sewer brochure that we provided before; we will try to upgrade that a little bit with a current
understanding. We will have each department head and someone from the Board of Health come
in. We will organize it at our end and send out a flyer. I find that that is good from our
standpoint of Administration and certainly for residents who have questions.
Council President Buckholtz said I talk to Rick Novickis from time to time. He is well aware of
the areas we haven't done but he is waiting for us to come up with Issue monies.
Mayor Rinker said we will logically invite residents along Highland Road too.
Council President Buckholtz said we will plan on that for April.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
S.O.M. Widening Committee - Mrs. Mills deferred to Mr. Metzung. Mr. Metzung said work
has slowed quite a bit on S.O.M. Center Road while they have located the new home for the
water line. That has been agreed to and we have been waiting on Cleveland Water to agree to it.
Now that has been done so it will probably be another week before they begin in earnest working
from Fisher's Tavern to the south while they coordinate with C.E.I. to move the poles. They
continue to work on what we refer to as Phase Two which is the northbound lanes between
Highland and White road grinding the old pavement away and they will begin to put the sub-base
down and get ready for concrete in that area. The last item will be the north underpass;
unfortunately when they installed it, they installed it a foot too low. URS and the contractor have
been working with a solution for that. As of now, Great Lakes has said they will have to excavate
and remove that underpass and raise it up. They are also looking at an alternative of some way to
jack it up from underneath but that has yet to be decided.
Wage Negotiations Committee - Mr. Marrie said we heard from Mrs. Mills that we had
discussed First Reading of Ordinance No. 2004-12 ratifying the collective bargaining agreement
between the Firefighters and the Village of Mayfield; in addition to that we are waiting to hear
from members of the Local to see if they have ratified the contract. We have not heard as of yet.
2020 Vision Committee - Mr. Marquardt said the 2020 Committee will present a plan at a joint
meeting on Thursday March 181h in this rooin.
Information & Technologv - Council President Buckholtz said Information and Technology
has not met; we will meet next week. We will establish a time. We will be reviewing the
startings of an integrated network system. That report will be forthcoming to Council.
