Regular Council Minutes
6-28-04
Page 10
way. So, as soon as Dominion is done, hopefully, within the next few weeks they will be able to
start that. We will be holding a ineeting with the contractor as they've stated that they are 75
days behind schedule. So we will be meeting with the contractor and on July 14 with all the
players involved to try to get a handle on how we are going to get this back on schedule.
Obviously the contractor has his concerns; we have our concerns. That is going to be quite a
meeting.
Council President Buckholtz said Doug, if I could make a suggestion and kind of put it in your
lap-just following up on the last meeting and I think it came from Mr. Saponaro which in turn
came from Citizen's Advisory, and I have spoken to the Mayor-I would like to pursue that we
have S.O.M. Widening Committee meeting. I don't think we need to have it on a regular basis
but I put it in your hands to say when would be an opportune time. Again, the issues you are
going to be discussing July 14, I think, are really complex and that's not what I am suggesting-
but particularly when we are coming up on these issues of landscaping and how you are going to
water them-and I know a lot of those things are things that you have some ideas and plans and
others are kind of mind boggling. But that might be the appropriate time to convene those
people and let them know what's going on and get some feedback from our citizens up there--in
the fall-certainly no later than I would think September or something like that.
Mrs. Mills asked, couldn't we do it after he had his meeting-about a week after?
_ Mr. Metzung said I would think July or August might be a nice time if we can get everybody
? together. That will be the key.
Mrs. Mills said let's shoot for maybe the first week in August then.
Council President Buckholtz said I won't be here but if you do it late in August I will be here.
Otherwise, go ahead of it. Just keep that on your calendar so we don't make those kind of real
interactive community decisions without bringing the people back in.
2020 Vision - Mr. Marquardt said no activity. Mrs. Mills addressed Mr. Marquardt and asked,
you are talking about it at Planning & Zoning, aren't you? Mr. Marquardt replied yes.
Information and Technologv - Mr. Marrie said we'll have a meeting this month but in the
meantime I talked to Frank Cikach from Mayfield Schools who is their computer and technology
gentleman for the whole Mayfield School District and he has given us some notes which we will
go over. The one thing he repeatedly said in both meetings-telephone calls-not actual
meetings--was that we should take the cable from Adelphia. It's not costing us anything
anyways but we should take it right now before they do something else or have another financial
problem. He says, I hate to say it, but take it and run. Just bring it in and leave it coiled up and
if we're not ready to use it right now--but get it done. It would not only help us and it would be
ours, but once that's done, we're also eligible for the $37,500--half of which we get, half of
which the school gets. The school is also pushing it for a lot of their own personal reasons and I
understand that because they would save approximately $500/month-right now-as soon as
that cable goes in-right off the bat. Not counting their share of the money just in fees. We
will discuss that and have more meetings with him. He is more than glad to come in and meet
and discuss with us at any time it is amenable to both of us. He is wide open to that to have
some suggestions. I think it is a good idea to have him in for a couple of reasons: One; I think
