Regular Council Minutes
6-28-04
Page 2
? we'll certainly discuss that. But right now the tax budget calls for $200,000 to be transferred from the
General Fund to Sewer Relief Fund.
Mayor Rinker said just as a reminder to all of us, as you know what we have done annually is make
application for Issue Two funding for the sewers. Our overall philosophy has been to try to maintain
balance throughout Mayfield Village so that one neighborhood isn't burdened or necessarily benefited
any more than any other. In other words, that at the end of the day the assessment that the individual
property owner receives at the point the sanitary sewers would go on line would be comparable. And
generally we've had pretty good success with that. We noted at the last meeting and I bring it up again
tonight that in the last couple of years, unfortunately, the Issue Two applications that we've made for
one particular neighborhood have been stalled. We've gone though a number of changes in that in the
meantime, we've been accruing some funds annually in the sewer fund. This year, our approach will
be--rather than focusing on the one project--we are looking to submit in all likelihood three Issue Two
applications. We will hy to set them up again comparably so that at the end of the day residents would
be treated equally among the different neighborhoods. The variables are the number of properties that
are involved in any particular neighborhood. So that would be: Metro [Park], Highland, Thornapple-
in addition to Eastgate and Meadowood. So those are the remaining septic system areas that we are
going to try to work to conversion. So all things being equal, our general approach has been not only
to maintain that but to tty to tie in storm improvements where we can. This is all pretty consistent.
Thank you.
Council President Buckholtz said, Donna; make a note to put that on the rucus 49enc311 1: I was going
? to ask Bill if this was at all a reasonable or feasible thing to do but since he's already doing that as a
line item, let's discuss it and see how we would work that.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any other items for the open portion?
There were none.
CONSIDERATION OF 1VIlNUTES
Special Councifl Meeting - March 22, 2004
Mr. Brett left the meeting table at this time. (approximately 8:15 p.m.)
Council President Buckholtz asked, did we all get the revised minutes and said I didn't see them
in the packet.
Mr. Marrie said I saw them-and added: this was for last week-not this week-June 18.
Mr. Marquardt said there was no finalized copy. There was a copy requesting input.
Council President Buckholtz asked, does anyone else have anything further to add to those
minutes? Then if it would be appropriate, can we pass those minutes that are in the hands of the
Clerk of Council and Council members in terms of representing that meeting?
Mr. Diemert stated as supplemented and Council President Buckholtz reiterated as
supplemented.
