Regular Council Minutes
7-19-04
Page 5
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
S.O.M. Widening Committee - Mr. Metzung said as stated earlier, concrete will be placed for
the Phase Two section of S.O.M. (which is White to Highland) but they are only going from
White to Metro Park. This will be done at night. It will take 3 days to complete this work. We
did go out (myself and Mr. Adam Dougher, Superintendent) and met with all the residents on
S.O.M. who were affected by the parking ban and made sure if they had any special needs that
we would take care of those. Everybody is in pretty good shape over there. The last 2 utilities
continue to work up there--SBC and East Ohio Gas both stated that they will be completed by
the end of the month. Going back to the placement of the concrete, Hickory Hill will also be
closed for 5-7 days. This will allow the paver to continue to pave through--plus we had the
concerns of trying to maintain the intersection with one lane of traffic at a time and the safety
factor that that brought up. I talked to Chief Dearden and we both agreed that closing the
intersection completely will be a safer way to go; it will also allow them to get the work done a
little quicker. It will be a complete closure but it will be short. We completed the deal for the
soccer fields. They will complete and construct a new soccer field plus we will receive 50 cents a
square yard credit from Great Lakes; this credit could be anywhere from $10-15,000 by the time
it is done.
2020 Vision Committee -Council President Buckholtz said we covered that with the Planning
and Zoning report.
Information & Technolo~y - Mr. Marrie said there have been some preliminary meetings. A
report is due from Department Heads on their needs so we can go ahead with our communication
between the different departments. Probably, next month we will have something a little more
elaborate but right now we are working on getting the reports back from the Department Heads.
Health Care Task Force/Insurance - Mr. Marrie said the dental contract has been settled.
Nothing was lost as far as benefits; they have the identical benefits and our agent was able to
replace it with a cost of $1,000 less per month to the Village with no change as far as our
associates are concerned. We also raised our Life Insurance for our associates from $10,000 to
$20,000.
.OLD BUSINESS
Third ReadinE of Ordinance No. 2004-23, entitled; "An emergency ordinance amending
various Sections of Chapter 175 Relating to Municipal Income Tax." Introduced by Mayor
Rinker and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 5/17/04, Second Reading 6/28/04)
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2004- 23.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
There were no comments.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
